Mr. Mayor Season 2: Cast, Plot, Release Date

Quit your day job because Mr. Mayor is back for a second season! The sitcom about politics just released the cast list and their plot synopsis. This hilarious sitcom has been renewed for another season of laughs.

Season Recap

• In the first season, we saw Neil Bremer take on the role of Mayor for a sitcom. He has to balance his life with that of being an actor and politician. One time he even had to be in two places at once!
• His family was also featured prominently as he struggled to balance work, wife, kids, friends, and keeping his sanity.
• Season one ended with a cliffhanger that left fans on the edge of their seats, wondering what will happen next!
• Season one led us to believe that Mike will eventually be impeached, but we’re not 100% sure what the future holds.

Plot Summary of the New Season

The Hollywood Reporter revealed in 2019 that Mr. Mayor was originally conceived by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock as a spinoff of 30 Rock which would focus on Jack Donaghy, played by Alec Baldwin, as he changed careers to become a mayor. In keeping with the show, it was meant to set in New York, but when Baldwin dropped out, the show went on with a new creative director with Ted Danson.

The first season focused on Neil, Orly, Arpi, and the rest of the team as they went on with city-level politics. Several members of the team developed a friendship; their differing perspectives helped each other to find a different meaning in their life.

Season 2 promises to continue the same.

Storyline

The sitcom follows a newly elected mayor and his staff in San Francisco. In season two, the team will tackle issues such as homelessness, immigration, and climate change while trying to balance their personal lives on top of it all. The second season is set to air sometime this year, with 13 episodes planned for the new batch of episodes.

Cast

At the centre of Mr. Mayor, playing the main character Neil Bremer is sitcom legend Tad Danson. Best known for his role as Sam Malone in the dead-plus NBC series Cheers, Danson has hardly rested on his laurels since the show aired in 1993.

But Danson is far from only the big name in the cast, as he has also been joined by Holly Hunter. Hunter plays Arpi Meskimen, a career politician. Other members include notable names like Bobby Moynihan, Tina Fey, Kyla Kenedy, Vella Lovell.

Release Date

NBC’s newest comedy series made its debut in January 2021. It also suffered casualties like other shows due to Covid-19.

On the other hand, NBC did not make any official confirmation date for the second season to release. But we can expect it to air in 2022.
