It follows on from the first Mortal Kombat, which was released in 2011 after a nine-year hiatus for the series. The storyline of MKL2 focuses on Shinnok’s invasion of Earthrealm, aided by Quan Chi, who successfully dethrones Raiden as ruler of Earthrealm following his death at the hands of Sindel. Takeda beats Kabal in order to become the leader of Outworld and joins forces with Shao Kahn alongside Goro, Bo’ Rai Cho, and Mileena.

Release Date for Mortal Kombat Legends 2

The animated movie is expected to have a release date of November or December 2021. Or it will be released by 2022 at the latest! The news states that the shooting is almost over, and the team just had to go through the graphics and make some animation changes. And then the movie is ready for release!

Rumours about the movie

Mortal Kombat: Aftershock is a rumoured spin-off title in the Mortal Kombat universe that serves to explore Quan Chi’s origin story following his defeat at the hands of Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat Trilogy and later conflicts with Shinnok, Earthrealm warriors Raiden, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and Jax Briggs.

Rumoured Spinoffs: There are some rumours about other possible spinoffs! For example, could there be one about Goro fighting against an unknown challenger who has taken over Outworld after him? Or even one where he teams up with another fighter entirely from our world like Ryu or somebody else equally as cool! What do you think?

Will Mortal Kombat Legends 2 be worth watching?

No. Mortal Kombat Legends is a movie that can’t live up to its reputation, even with the aid of some popular actors and actresses in the cast, such as Jai Courtney (Terminator Genisys) or Ian Anthony Dale, who was also on the TV show Hawaii Five-0 for three seasons. If you’re looking for something more than just an animated Mortal Kombat film, then this isn’t it – if anything maybe checks out The Fatal Frame series instead!
