The Serpent Queen is an upcoming American period drama television series revolving around the life of Catherine de Medici.  The series gives a message that you should always put your family first. The series climax is when Catherine, desperate for Henry’s love, begins to marry off her son, the future King Charles IX of France. She can marry him off to Catherine of Austria despite all odds.  The series ends with Catherine dying from tuberculosis. The series is based on the non-fiction book Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France by Leonie Frieda. The book was originally published in 2004 so obviously. This entire storyline is based on facts and events.

The series focuses on Catherine de Medici and her ambitions. Catherine is the main antagonist in the series and her motives are less than ideal. Catherine’s main goal is to obtain power over the French Crown. She will do anything to achieve her goals. It is set during the French Wars of Religion. The most epic scene takes place in the episode “The Night God”. This episode takes place in 1562.  And also depicts a massacre on St. Bartholomew’s Eve of 1572, known as the Bartholomew’s Day massacre.

The most loved character is Catherine de Medici. The most liked character is Catherine de Medici.  Most hated characters are Jeanne d’Albret, Marguerite de Navarre, and Margot de Valois. Marguerite de Navarre is the first queen consort of Henry IV of France . Margot was Henry’s daughter by the previous marriage to his second wife Claude Henriette de Bourbon. While Jeanne was Henry’s main wife and the mother of his five children.
