The Princess : All set to arrive this coming July on Hulu .

She is kidnapped and locked in a remote tower. With her scorned, vindictive suitor intent on taking her father’s throne, the princess must protect her family and save the kingdom. She must also contend with an attempted assassination of one of their best knights which sets into motion a series of events that will have readers glued to the story and rooting for the poor little girl all along.

What is the plot of the story?

The story follows a young princess called Alexandra who is the daughter of a king. She likes riding horses and fighting her father in sword-fighting matches. Her father is of noble birth while her mother is just an ordinary baker’s daughter. Alexandra has always been treated like a princess so she feels that everyone around her should be as well. This attitude earns her enemies among the princes and knights of the castle, mostly because they think she has a big head because of it.

Who is in the cast? What role did each character portray?

The cast includes Joey King, Dominic Cooper, and Mia Wasikowska. These are the characters that readers will get to know as they read the story. Alexandra is the heroine of this story who thinks that she can do things as well as any man. She is also very headstrong and stubborn which makes it hard for others to control her in any way. Joey King plays young Alexandra while Dominic Cooper plays her father, the king and Mia Wasikowska plays the mean prince who wants to take over his father’s throne and become king himself. The rest of the cast includes Actors like Elle Fanning, Aneurin Barnard, Tom Hopper, and Tim Mc Innery among others.

What are the difficulties they face?

Alexandra is a stubborn teenager who thinks that she can do everything just like any man and better than most. She is capable of riding horses, shooting arrows, and fighting with swords. She loves the outdoors and goes hunting at least once every week. What she hates most are her lessons where she must sit quietly while others explain things to her. Alexandra gets expelled from the castle’s school which means that it is unlikely that she can become queen when it is time for her father to step down because as more modern people will tell you “there must be a queen”.

What are the themes?

There are a lot of themes that are touched upon in this story. One is the conflict of having to choose between love and duty, which is something a lot of people can relate to. The phrase “My Father’s Kingdom” will be repeated by Alexandra throughout the story and with it comes the choice for Alexandra. Another theme is betrayal as Alexandra’s best friends turn against her and take part in this scheme. Another theme is overcoming difficulties and adversity as Alexandra has to do all these things alone.

Who is the antagonist? What are its motives?

The antagonist in the story is a prince that wants to become king. He tricks Alexandra into going on a ride with him, drugs her, and locks her up in an isolated tower where she cannot escape no matter how hard she tries. There he tortures her through all sorts of psychological games, with things like promises of freedom and food. The prince is probably motivated by the desire to be king and by cruelty as he takes great pleasure in seeing Alexandra suffer. There is a lot of action in this book. Most of the story takes place in a tower that is surrounded by woods where the princess must go to avoid being found. There Alexandra has to practice fighting with swords and she also has more than one narrow escape from her kidnapper. It is through such actions that the story progresses.
