Black Widow:

The first new Marvel movie arriving in theaters is Black Widow, coming to see on July 9, 2021. Keep reading for more information about the upcoming release!

The Black Widow movie will be the fourth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cast includes returning Tony nominee Scarlett Johansson; Stranger Things’ David Harbour as Alexi; Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, a sister figure to Natasha who takes up the mantle in the comics; and O-T Fagbenle and Rachel Weisz as Mason and Melina Vostokoff respectively, characters from comic books. William Hurt is also part of this film.

The new Black Widow movie will take place between the events of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. This follows Natasha Romanoff as she tries to put herself back together with scenes showing her past.

Shang-Chi: And the Legend of the Ten Rings:

In September 2021, the MCU will be releasing their first Asian-led superhero movie: Shang Chi. Set to come out on September 3rd in theatres only, it will also feature Simu Liu as the title hero Master of Kung-Fu, and Tony Leung playing Wenwu. The film also stars Awkwafina who is friends with Shang-Chi and Michelle Yeoh joins her role as Jiang Nan.

The first trailer for the next Marvel Cinematic Universe installment, ‘Captain Marvel,’ has been released.

Eternals:

Eternals, originally announced at D23 as The Eternals, is now the third MCU film of Phase 4 and will release on November 5th, 2021.

The Eternals cast includes (far right) Richard Madden as Ikaris, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Salma Hayek (Ajak “leader of the Eternals” according to Feige), Brian Tyree Henry (Phastos “genius,” says the actor), Don Lee (hulking Gilgamesh) with Lia McHugh and Walking Dead’s Lauren Ridloff.

The first footage from the new Marvel movie “Eternals” showed up in a Marvel sizzle reel. The first MCU trailer for The Eternals showed that the heroes faced an epic centuries-long quest.

“I’ve always wanted to make a Marvel movie, and now I have my chance with The Eternals. Through the journey of these immortals, we get to explore what it means to be human,” says Zhao. “The Eternals are a race of immortal, alien protectors sent to Earth by the Celestials to aid humankind against the Deviants.” -Madden

Spider-Man: No Way Home

In a surprising turn of events, Spider-Man 3, or Spider-Man: No Way Home has been confirmed for release on December 17, 2021. It will be part of Marvel’s Phase 4 and we’re so excited!

No news yet on the story, and it’s possible that Spider-Man will be in a multiverse. Jamie Foxx is confirmed as Electro, but Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield can return as him because Tom Holland has denied it.

Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will reportedly be appearing in the movie, and the first pictures hint that the main trio finds their way to a Sanctum Sanctorum.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness:

The Sanctum Sanctorum is changing in the Doctor Strange sequel, slated for March 25, 2022.

Director Scott Derrickson, who helmed the original Doctor Strange, has departed Multiverse of Madness citing “creative differences.” His writing partner, C. Robert Cargill, has also left the project and Sam Raimi (director of Spider-Man trilogy) is replacing him as director.

Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 movies are starting to get released, with MCU’s “Doctor Strange” being the first. The film will feature Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor returning as Doctor Stephen Strange and Baron Mordo respectively when it comes out.

MCU Executive Producer Kevin Feige has teased the multiverse ideas, saying “The MCU’s next step is to explore the various realms of the multiverse — and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be our way into that.”

One of the many popular theories about WandaVision  is that it will end with Doctor Strange becoming her mentor. As Elizabeth Olsen has teased, “we’ll see how those storylines overlap”.

I think Doctor Strange might be involved because he can help teach Wanda better control of her powers and Wanda is shown reading a book about him in one scene. The series also makes a lot of references to things happening across all dimensions, which could very well hint at magic coming into play.

Thor: Love and Thunder

Marvel Phase 4 will end on the timeline with Thor: Love and Thunder, which is debuting on May 6, 2022. This movie features a monumental change in its story, as Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) is now known as Mighty Thor.

Not only will Chris Hemsworth be reprising his original MCU role as Thor in the upcoming movie, but he’ll also be serving as the narrator of Bruce Banner/Hulk’s story. Tessa Thompson will have previously played Valkyrie in Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame.

Taika Waititi is back to screen-time with Love and Thunder after winning awards for making movies like Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Boy which are both great for kids. The villain of Dealing With Death Again will be Christian Bale, who has previously been seen playing Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

New Marvel Phase 4 movies will see Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as Thor, with Waititi hosting a watch-along of Ragnarok on Twitter.

After following up on a rumor from the Reddit post, Kevin Feige has confirmed that Taika Waititi is developing one of the upcoming MCU Phase 4 films. Taika will be “at his most extreme”.

Waititi has hinted that Love and Thunder will take inspiration from Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic run, which introduced the concept of Jane Foster as Thor. To read up on what to expect for Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor, check out this passage in a Mighty Thor comics summary.

The sequel to Infinity War promises a reunion of the Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as some cameos from Avengers team members.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

The Black Panther sequel has had to make several adjustments after the tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman who played T’Challa, and we’ve just now gotten the official title: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

No word yet on who will take over as the Black Panther, but fans can look forward to a new series of Marvel Universe features set in Wakanda. Wakanda Forever will release on July 8th of 2022.

The Marvels

Marvel’s The Marvels is the official title for Captain Marvel: Vol. 2, and it comes with a new Ms. Marvel! In this latest entry from the studio’s blog, they say that Kamala Khan – formerly known as Ms. Marvel – will be joining Carol Danvers in the superhero sequel WandaVision.

The sequel to the Marvels is set to release on November 11th, 2022. This follows up on the events of Avengers: Endgame, with Marvel’s Kevin Feige promising “everything you could imagine” will be shown in this movie.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

The third installment of the Ant-Man series is fast approaching. We know little about the storyline, but we do know that it will be released in 2022 and directed by Peyton Reed.

The big arrival in “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors  (time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror), who will make a one-off appearance and not take on the mantle of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next big bad as some might have suspected (whether it’s a setup for him to become MCU’s Next Big Bad or just a one-off appearance is unknown).

Showing up for Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp” are Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Kathryn Newton.

“Phase 4, the next chapter of our cinematic universe, has a really diverse lineup,” Feige said. “It is 18 films that represent the best each year had to offer.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was originally predicted to be one of the post-Phase 4 MCU movies, but a recent video from Marvel suggests otherwise. The movie is set to release on May 5, 2023, and has been organized under the Marvel Phase 4 moniker.

The case of Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 has had as many twists and turns as a Russo Brothers film. James Gunn was originally fired by Disney, then he re-hired less than a year later with plans to produce a script that people are reportedly in tears over.

The Suicide Squad sequel/reboot will be Gunn’s final film for the MCU. Various actors, including Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel are planned to return but it remains unclear how this will affect director James Gunn’s involvement after his cut was canceled by Disney. What role Gamora will play and who dies still remain a mystery – what little we know comes from Instagram posts from Gunn himself.
