“Line of Duty” was an award-winning Drama-crime show which aired on the BBC. The series was based on a fictionalized account of work experiences in several police departments in England, including West Yorkshire Police and Greater Manchester Police. It started airing back in 2012 with just one season for that year, but subsequent seasons were released every two years since then. Each episode would end with an unsolved mystery to keep viewers hooked until the following season came out.

The Plot summary includes three main characters.

AC12’s Steve Arnott (Martin Compston); Detective Sergeant Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) from Professional Standards; and Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar), who must take charge of the team at AC-12 when a major corruption scandal rocks West Yorkshire Police.

About the new Season

The seventh season continues when AC-12 investigates the suspicious death of popular local politician Councillor Michael McHugh (Lennie James), which leads them to suspect members within West Yorkshire Police, including Superintendent Ted Hastings’s son Jason who leads an anti-corruption unit, played by Tom Burke. There will be six episodes total in this newest season.

Jed Mercurio, the creator of Line Of Duty, is back with his seventh season. The show has been praised for its ability to keep viewers hooked with a mystery and wanting more. In this newest series, there will be six episodes total that are set in West Yorkshire, where AC-12 investigates the death of popular politician Michael McHugh (Lennie James). One of their suspects includes Jason Hastings, who leads an anti-corruption unit within West Yorkshire Police which is played by Tom Burke. Jed Mercurio’s previous shows have had multiple seasons, such as Bodyguard, which was nominated for Drama Series at the Primetime Emmy Awards 2019, or New Blood – both starring Keeley Hawes and written by him.

Release Date

We will have to wait for the next season to arrive on our screens. Season 7 has been greenlit by BBC and is set to arrive in March 2023. The sole reason behind this is the impact of the Coronavirus on the film industry. The production of season 6 came to a halt, and we will see season 6 a little late as expected.
