Queen of the South Season 5 Release Date

‘Queen of the South’ season 4 premiered on June 6, 2019, and ran for 13 episodes before coming to an end on August 29, 2019, on USA Network. Shortly before the season 4 finale, USA Network renewed ‘Queen of the South’ for season 5. Principal photography began on March 2, 2020, but because of the COVID situation, the production was canceled for three weeks on March 14, 2020.

“We’re taking a three-week break for the safety of our cast and crew on #queenofthesouth. I can’t wait to get back and finish up the amazing season we have cooked up for you. Be safe! Take care of yourselves. And don’t hoard toilet paper,” showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez wrote in an Instagram post. It was later extended indefinitely. Considering all this, we can expect ‘Queen of the South’ season 5 to release sometime in 2021 on USA Network.

Queen of the South Season 5 Plot: What Is It About?

In the Queen of the South season five trailer, Teresa is seen being transported in a van. She meets with another woman who she can’t identify and hands over her watch as some sort of exchange for something they need.

Hemky Madera returns as Pote Galvez; Jon-Michael Ecker returns as Güero Davila; Alfonso Herrera returns as Javier Jimenez; David Andrews resumes his role of Judge Cecil Lafayette; Cory Hart again portrays Randall Green. Derek Evans also joins them on board this season after he was absent from season four which sealed their fate at that time period. Season five will not include Julian Silva (Tony Parra), Ryan O’Nan (King George), or Alimi Ballard (Ana Ruiz).

The trailer also shows Teresa in a new environment: she walks out of the van and is surrounded by people on all sides. This could mean that her location has changed, or maybe it’s just to show how important she is now. It might even be both!

Molina is seen wearing an orange jumpsuit which means he was going back to prison after his escape last season. The teaser reveals that we will see everyone from hitman Alejandro Alvarez (who was shot) to Ignacio “Nacho” Varga while trying to track down El Cucuy with help from Pote Galvez, Güero Davila, and Javier Jimenez, who are still alive–and so is Teresa Mendoza.

The official Twitter account for the TV show Queens of the South shared a first look at season five on September 21, 2018, and it looks like things are about to get even more intense! According to Variety’s report on August 23rd, actor Juan Pablo Raba will be joining the Queen of the south coast in his series regular role as Captain Dario Acosta, who was introduced in Season four as an officer investigating La Tuna cartel; but we can only imagine that he’ll have some connection to Teresa Mendoza (Alice Braga).
