The CG movie reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which Deadline scooped last year (see the story below), was coming from Nickelodeon, and Point Grey Pictures now has a release date. The pic being directed by Gravity Falls‘ Jeff Rowe will hit theatres on August 11, 2023.

Seth Rogen, who is producing with his Point Grey partners Evan Goldberg and James Weaver, unveiled the date Tuesday in a Twitter post, along with some “notes” from Leonardo, one of the four shelled heroes at the centre of the kid’s franchise.

There were no other details provided aside from some doodling in the margins of the notes, which featured words like honour, loyalty, and discipline, which are staples of the Turtles mythology. There’s also a note to “apologize to April,” a nod to the journalist who helps the quartet fight crime.

The Plot:

With the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles enjoying a renaissance; of popularity, Nickelodeon and Point Grey Pictures; have announced that they will be releasing; their first TMNT reboot; in August 2023. The plot is currently being kept secret. But it has been confirmed; by Seth Rogen (who is producing with Evan Goldberg and James Weaver) that there are plans; to also include April O’Neil alongside Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael.

The name came about when co-creator Peter Laird; found out his then one-year-old son; had been using blue ink instead of red ink; while doodling with crayons; he added the “teenage” to make it more interesting.

Yes! It has been receiving some mixed reviews so far but is still reasonably entertaining for both adults and children alike. If you’re looking for an action-packed adventure film with plenty of laughs thrown in, then this could be perfect for your needs!

The release date was pushed up to coincide with a new cartoon series that launched on Nickelodeon through an arrangement between Paramount Pictures and Viacom (parent company). It’s possible this could be a tactic for marketing purposes as well.
