Anthony Mackie on “Bromance”!

The word “bromance” is defined as a close but non-sexual relationship between two or more men, so I definitely think that there’s something like this going on in our movie because we’re all very tight-knit people who have been together for years now.”

Anthony Mackie has had his share of “Bromances” throughout his acting career and now will have another one in Marvel’s newest installment, The Winter Soldier, due out next week. In recent years, he played best buddies-turned-enemies Eric Brown, and James King Jr., who were both actors turned drug dealers in HBO’s acclaimed drama series The Wire.

He recently spoke about his latest “Bromance” with Captain America, and it sounds just like any other friendship he has ever had before: “[It] was a great man! We were out here shooting the first thing we shot after they promoted me to Cap. He came up to me and said, ‘I don’t know what you’ve done over the past ten months while I was asleep, but you’ve done something really right. You’re up there, and I’m down here now.’

He continued: “It was just a really great moment for me because he’s such an icon in the comic book world, and I always thought it would be cool to do that with him.”

Anthony Mackie has had his share of “Bromances” throughout his acting career and now will have another one in Marvel’s newest installment, The Winter Soldier, due out next week (April 2014). In recent years, he played best buddies-turned-enemies Eric Brown and James King Jr., who were forced to work together in the film “Prisoners,” and he played opposite Tom Hanks as his best friend’s son (also named Anthony Mackie) who had a crush on Meg Ryan’s daughter.

But this time, the roles are reversed: This time, it is Cap playing Mr. Straight Man to Mackie’s fast-talking Sam Wilson/The Falcon.
