Author, Jeff Hecht, is on a mission to scare the bejeezus out of every reader with his latest horror novel “Dark Harvest.” Just in time for Halloween, the book follows a teenage boy and girl who are preparing for the annual festivities when they come across Sawtooth Jack. As you might have guessed already, he’s not your average trick-or-treater. Suspense builds as they brace themselves to face whatever ghastly fate awaits them on this spooky night.

What is the plot of the story ?

The story begins with the teenage boy, Ben, and his girlfriend, Zoey, traveling to town to celebrate Halloween. They are excited yet nervous at the same time. Little do they know that something sinister is about to unfold and can’t help but bring this joyous occasion to a tragic end.

Who is in the cast ? What role did each character portray ?

The cast include Austin Autry , Maclean Fish , Jennifer Gonzales , and Jacob Olson . They each play an important role, whether it’s leading the plot or one of the minor characters, who actually help add a sense of realism to the story. The role of Ben is played by Austin Autry. He is basically your typical boy next door who decides to take action when it comes down to facing Sawtooth Jack. The role of Zoey is played by Maclean Fish, who despite being scared throughout most of the book finally finds her courage at the end. She goes “all out” to save her boyfriend from certain death, along side their friends Jennifer and Jacob.

What are the difficulties they faced ?

Even though the cast is small, they faced a lot of difficulties throughout their journey. For one, Ben and Zoey were constantly arguing over who was better able to face Sawtooth Jack. That’s not a typical thing for young kids who are supposed to be falling in love and not saying hurtful things to each other. On top of that, they didn’t want to disappoint their friends Jennifer and Jacob. They wanted them to have a great Halloween experience too, but instead they got dragged into this nightmare and almost faced the same tragic fate as Ben and Zoey did.

Who is the antagonist ? What are its motives ?

It actually depends on who you ask. Some would say Sawtooth Jack was the antagonist, while others would argue that it was Ben. For instance, if you ask Zoey, she will definitely say that Ben was the antagonist because he got them all into this mess in the first place by having an ongoing feud with Sawtooth Jack.

What are the epic scenes ?

There are a few scenes that are considered epic. But overall, Ben and Zoey’s meeting with Sawtooth Jack was the most terrifying because they didn’t know what to expect. Going into this confrontation blind is never a good thing. By the end of this scene, Ben had been stabbed and Zoey was on her way to being dragged into Sawtooth Jack’s cave. My favorite scenes are when Ben and Zoey have met with Sawtooth Jack and have received the message that they have 24-hours to solve the riddles or else it’s “Game over.” When I read that part, I actually had chills going down my spine.

Who is the most loved character ?

This is a hard one because their are multiple characters that show love. If I had to choose, I would probably choose Ben. He shows love for his friends and is determined to save them from Sawtooth Jack’s reign of terror.

Would you recommend watching this ?

Yes! I would recommend watching this but, it wouldn’t be for anybody under the age of 10. The book itself is filled with pretty graphic content, that may be a little much for younger kids. Thanks for reading !
