Filming for the series began in London at the end of November 2020. The production took place at Pinewood Studios. The series will air under the working title, “Pilgrim,” with director Toby Haynes, who has helmed episodes of Doctor Who and Sherlock, directing the first three installments. Cinematographer Jonathan Freeman serves as a lensman.

Reports previously stated that “Star Wars: Andor” filming would begin in 2019 and June 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was delayed. Both the U.S.’ COVID-19 protocol and Britain’s COVID-19 protocol were followed on set, including daily temperature checks and tests for COVID-19 three times a week. Filming at Pinewood Studios was expected to conclude in July 2021.

In late January 2021, a large village set was built for the series on the grounds of a former quarry in Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire. Filming was expected to continue until April; however, in April, filming also took place at the Coryton Refinery in Corring Hil.

Several days of filming happened in Cleveleys, England, on the Fylde Coast in early May. The town’s promenade and beach area were dressed to look like an alien location. Following several days of filming at Cleveleys Beach in late May, the cast & crew decamped to Winspit Quarry – a disused quarry located near Dorset.

Second unit and location filming for Star Wars: Andor took place in a nearby country park from the end of May to at least mid-June. This location was also used in previous Disney films, including Star Wars.

By May, the production moved to Glen Tilt in Perthshire, Scotland. Production is set to conclude in mid-2021. Filming took place at Middle Peak Quarry near Wirksworth, Derbyshire, from June 22 to 24.
