Rupert Friend Talks About filming The Obi-Wan Kenobi Show And Shares His Experience!

When Rupert Friend was first approached to star in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, his reaction was disbelief. “I don’t know what I’m doing here,” he thought, but Rupert quickly came around. “The experience has been really fantastic, and it’s a real privilege to be part of such an iconic world.” Rupert talked about filming the Obi-Wan Kenobi show and shares his experience!

About the show “Obi-Wan Kenobi.”

The show will follow Obi-Wan Kenobi and other characters in the Star Wars universe through an era of never-before-seen events.

Rupert Friend talked about filming the Obi Wei Kenobe Show! Rupert tried to make it as real for himself as possible by reading up on all he could find. He found a book called The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force, which was written by George Lucas, who wrote Star Wars. He would have been reading this whilst doing his lines, so he felt like he had some kind of inside knowledge before even starting shooting! Rupert also did lots of research into Japanese culture.

He said, “It’s about Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Siri Tachi. They are tasked with finding out; who is behind a lot of the chaos; in the galaxy.” Rupert also spoke to us briefly on how he got involved; with Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Rupert Friend was first approached by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy when she learned that Rupert had been cast as Jack Barty; in her show Spooks (2002). When soon after Rupert jumped on board; for this project, there were some mixed feelings; from family members, but they eventually came around!

“The experience has been really fantastic,” Rupert says, “and it’s a real privilege to be part of such an iconic world.” But what made him want to dive into something like this? Rupert explains, “I grew up with Star Wars. I was about four when the original film came out, and it’s been a part of my life ever since.” Rupert shares his thoughts on what Obi-Wan Kenobi is like in The Clone Wars.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” Release Date Expectations

In the Rupert Friend interview, he talked about going to a Star Wars convention and seeing all of these people; in costume. Rupert shared his thoughts on what Obi-Wan Kenobi is like in The Clone Wars. When Rupert first read for this role, he was not sure if they were looking for an older or younger version of Obi-Wan, but when reading lines from Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith, Rupert knew that it would be more difficult with an older character because those scenes are so emotional. “I felt really strongly that I could tell the story as well,” he says.

The show will be released sometime in 2022.

Plot Details for “Obi-Wan Kenobi” Show

The series will depict the later years of a solitary Obi-Wan’s life. It is set between The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: A New Hope, following on from what happened in Revenge of the Sith (2005). In this period, he lives as an exile after being hunted for decades by Darth Vader until he disappears to teach Yoda how to find peace.

Rupert Friend is playing a voice-over role on Star Wars 2021 Series event called ‘Clone Wars’, which also stars Jamie Dornan.
