Brooklyn Nine-Nine is back for its eighth and final season. The show, which has been on air since 2013, will return to FOX this fall with a new cast. Brooklyn Nine-Nine tells the story of a group of detectives; in Brooklyn’s 99th Precinct; who are dedicated to fighting crime; while also juggling their personal lives.

The cast and crew of Brooklyn Nine-Nine are set to start filming; for Season Eight; this Wednesday, April 17th. This date marks the beginning of a new chapter; in the series: one without Andy Samberg as Detective Jake Peralta; after he left at the end of Season Seven. However, fans can rest assured; that Series Regulars Terry Crews and Melissa Fumero will be back on board; with other regulars Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa Diaz), Joe Lo Truglio (Charles Boyle), Dirk Blocker (Holt), Joel McKinnon Miller (Lou Wexler) Thea Trinidad(Amy Santiago) Ralph Garman AKA Ray Holt’s voiceover actor; who has been part of the show since season three.

The show has come a long way from where it started, but now the question remains: Is Season 8 going to be the last?

The show’s co-creator Dan Goor has said that they don’t know for sure. “We’re planning on doing a season nine,” he revealed when asked if next year would likely be Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s final instalment. He also added, “If we’re lucky enough to get there.” However, it seems as though, given how much of his life went into this series and its characters over seven seasons, Andy Samberg might not want Brooklyn Nine-Nine to go down without a fight either. You can only be in a place where you feel like you’re not making an impact or the best version of yourself, and then it starts to wear on me mentally.”
