Jonathan Majors himself confirmed the news on Twitter, writing: “Lovecraft Country got canceled before it could get good.”

About the Series “Lovecraft Country”

Lovecraft Country is a new, original six-episode series; from Jonathan Majors that is based on the best-selling book by Matt Ruff. It follows Atticus Black as he joins up with his friend Letitia and Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America to find his father, who has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. Along the way, they’ll face racist locals, natural disasters, and other unexpected challenges – all while trying not just to survive but thrive. The show will be coming exclusively to Apple TV+.

“Lovecraft Country” Renewal Status: Why is it Cancelled?

In an all-too-familiar turn of events, Apple has pulled the plug on Jonathan Majors’ Lovecraft Country. Jonathan Majors is a star in his own right, and he’s even better when working with other talented people. The show is expected to come out in 2023. In an interview from earlier this year, Jonathan mentioned that he was really hoping for 2020, but now it seems like it will be coming out on HBO in early 2021. Why did Jonathan move back to the release date? It seemed as if things were going well between him and HBO, so why would they do something like that? As many know by now, “Lovecraft Country” has been canceled due to budget issues. Jonathan’s latest statement on the show says that they were only halfway finished when their season got cut.

We also know from an interview with Jonathan back in July, where he said that “Lovecraft Country” would be a limited series and not an ongoing show. His reasoning was because of how much work it takes to make each episode. This means we can expect two more episodes, but Jonathan does mention that there are always opportunities for future projects – so maybe this isn’t permanent!
