Washington and Pilar Savone, in collaboration with Todd Shuster of Aevitas Entertainment and Liza Chasin of 3dot Productions, will produce movies for Netflix, a company that has an exclusive deal to distribute. Ross Cardwell, author of “Caretaker,” took to Twitter with words about his forthcoming work of memoirs being in the works for a film adaptation.
Washington state is proud to be home to American Son and The Prom, as well as other Netflix movies. She stars opposite Charlize Theron and Michelle Yeoh in Paul Feig’s upcoming Netflix movie The School for Good and Evil.
Washington headlined the TV special, Live in Front of a Studio Audience: All in the Family and Good Times, which he earned an Emmy as executive producer. She appeared opposite Reese Witherspoon in Hulu’s miniseries Little Fires Everywhere, and she garnered two Emmy nominations. She got two Emmy nominations for her work on Scandal and Anita Hill’s movie.
Though the new project, Rockaway, is of little interest to me personally, I can see why it might be perfect for Washington. This seems like a great change of pace from her usual roles and should coax her out in unfamiliar territory as well. She is currently represented by CAA and The Lede Company, while she also uses the services offered by other individuals such as attorney Gretchen Rush.
