Victoria Alonso on Black Widow: She’s a Hero, Not Just an Object

Black Widow

In this article, we will explore the significance of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ll discuss her importance to the Avengers and how she’s changed over time. This is not just a movie review, but an analysis of what makes Black Widow such a compelling character with such strong potential for even more growth in future films.

Victoria Alonso on Black Widow:

After over a decade, “Black Widow” producer Victoria Alonso admits she’s still not ready to let go of Scarlett Johansson’s character, Natasha Romanoff.

The producer, Victoria Alonso, who is also known as the ‘Queenpin,’ confessed she’s very reluctant to let go of Scarlett Johansson’s character Natasha Romanoff. Johansson has been playing the expert assassin and former SHIELD agent since John Favreau’s Iron Man 2 (2010).

In the Marvel films, she has been portrayed as a top agent of SHIELD alongside Clint Barton before becoming one of Marvel’s founding members.

After the events of Captain America: Civil War and before the Avengers: Infinity War, Black Widow will be getting a solo adventure with her Russian family. The film is directed by Cate Shortland and set to take place in London.

Black Widow producer Victoria Alonso struggles to let go of the character she helped create.

As mentioned by Alonso, Johansson’s Widow has changed a lot since 2010; from being hyper-sexualized in earlier MCU entries to a gritty character more concerned with saving her family than falling in love. Natasha Romanoff, known as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is often seen at her most powerful playing Johansson’s Marvel character in films like Avengers: The Age of Ultron and Lucy.

Disney+ series, Hawkeye, will again explore Natasha’s surrogate sister Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) who regularly takes on the Black Widow mantle.

The upcoming series could not come at a better time for Johansson following her acrimonious departure from Marvel last February over pay disparity and creative differences.

While it can be hard to keep track of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s heroes, one hero that many would say should be a part of their future is Black Widow. President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige has said they want to work with Johansson in some capacity and she might just join them.
