Ewan McGregor to star in “Everest” film for Director Doug Liman! Ewan McGregor will be starring in the upcoming movie Everest, directed by acclaimed director Doug Liman. The film is based on a true story about a group of climbers who attempted to summit Mount Everest, only to be faced with one of the most catastrophic natural disasters ever seen at sea level. This event became known as “The 1996 Mount Everest Disaster.”

This movie is set to release next year and covers a period prior-to-the disaster when these brave men were just starting their journey up this treacherous mountain. The film will be released in 2021, and it’s unclear how Ewan McGregor is going to play the role of leader Rob Hall. There are reports that he’ll have a cameo appearance as himself at some point during the movie… but what we don’t know for sure is whether or not this will happen before his character dies on Everest.

Ewan McGregor was also nominated for an Academy Award for “Best Actor” in 1999, 2000, and 2003; however, he never won one. He has been voted Britain’s Sexiest Man six times by readers of FHM magazine: 1997-2001 and 2004-2006! This might make him seem like a perfect fit for this movie.

Cast and Crew for “Everest”

Ewan McGregor will star in the “Everest” film for Director Doug Liman.

The script was written by Jez Butterworth and John Logan, who won an Oscar for their work on the 2012 movie “Skyfall.” This is the first time that these two have worked together as screenwriters. They also wrote a screenplay called “The Tourist” starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, which was released in 2010.

Life of Pi director Ang Lee had been attached to this project before, but he has since dropped out due to scheduling issues with his schedule at Fox 2000, where he is producing several films, including Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk directed by Steve Spielberg, coming November 11th, 2016!

Specifics: Ewan McGregor stars as a guy who gets stranded near Everest and must make his way back down the mountain while avoiding avalanches and crazy weather conditions that are happening due to climate change. The script was written by Jez Butterworth and John Logan, who won an Oscar for their work on “Skyfall.” This is the first time these two have worked together as screenwriters.

The cast also includes Emily Watson, Robin Wright, and Jake Gyllenhaal, who plays the leader of the group. Doug Liman is directing this movie which he has experience with as he’s directed “Mr. And Mrs. Smith” and “Jumper.” The film will be shot in Nepal, Italy, Morocco, and London!

Plot Synopsis for “Everest”

A group of climbers is in a race to become the first people in history to reach the summit of Mt. Everest. But they must also contend with dangerous weather conditions; that has never been seen before at such high altitudes, as well as oxygen deprivation and frostbite.

The film; will be shot entirely on location, which is something not often done today; due to budget constraints. Emily Watson; plays an experienced guide. She has trekked up to Everest many times before, so she’s there more for moral support; than anything else. Robin Wright; stars as her sister-in-law. Who is climbing Mount Everest for the third time, Jake Gyllenhaal portrays the leader of the climbing expedition, and Keira Knightley plays a journalist who is in love with Gyllenhall’s character.
