Release Date for Peaky Blinders Season 6:

While there’s no word yet; on exactly; when the Shelby family; will be returning to our screens, the news that filming wrapped; on May 28 does offer a clue. Considering; that returning series director Anthony Byrne has previously said that each season requires approximately six months of editing, it seems unlikely that we’ll see new drama in Birmingham before late 2021 or early 2022.

Peaky Blinders Season Six will be a big one, with the focus shifting to Tommy’s (Cillian Murphy) personal life and his family.

“We want to carry on telling that story, but we need new baddies,” he told IndieWire in December 2018. “There’s an ambition for every season now going forward because it is starting at 1925/1926 when Peaky Blinders essentially starts again, so there are whole different worlds of people who were sort of part of this world… We’re not running out.”

Star Cast for the show:

The cast for Peaky blinders season six includes some familiar faces as well as several newcomers, including Dame Helen Mirren joining the show, playing Aunt Polly Gray. Other confirmed stars include Paddy Considine, who will play a character called Bull O’Hara.

It has also been confirmed that Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is returning to write the series as well as direct episode one of season six while David Caffrey and Fred Elmes are set to serve as directors for upcoming episodes in the new instalment.

“I have never enjoyed making anything more than I’m enjoying this,” said Murphy last year. “This job is my life; it’s what I think about all day long.” He went on: “We’re going out on top; we’ve always talked about how successful or popular the show might get, but just because people like your work doesn’t mean you should do them forever. I’m really looking forward to a break.”

Season 6 Filming:

Filming for this new instalment will be taking place in Birmingham as well as various other locations across England. This is said to include Liverpool, London, and Manchester.

The first series aired on BBC Two on 13 September 2013. The second series aired from 25 May 2016 to 22 June 2016. Series three began airing on 15 November 2017 for six episodes until 11 December 2017, with an extended-length finale episode being shown at Christmas (aired on 25 December).

Series four will be released in 2020, as confirmed by writer Steven Knight who said, “I think we can do another two seasons easily and then finish it.”

“It’s always hard work, but it’s such rewarding work,” he added. “You get out there and think nobody cares about this, but there are a lot of people that do. It’s been amazing to see.”

Peaky Blinders is available on Netflix in the US, BBC iPlayer (UK), and SBS OnDemand for Australian viewers. Season one is also available on Amazon Prime Video, with seasons two and three becoming available shortly after their release dates have aired on TV channels outside of America respectively.

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, is yet to confirm whether or not season six will be the final series. The actor who plays Arthur Shelby, Paul Anderson, revealed that he believes it’s time for them to end things, but the decision lies in the hands of showrunner and writer Stephen Knight. “I don’t know what Steve has planned – I think we’re all ready,” said Anderson when speaking with Radio Times about his thoughts on how long they should go on for.”The thing is, if you keep going past a certain point, then there’s nowhere else to go because everything gets repeated… You suddenly become aware of repeating stories from previous years where people say, ‘Oh yeah, this again.’”
