Unfortunately, it’ll be a long wait for another season. The show’s first season was a huge production, filmed in and around Budapest, Hungary, and was logistically complicated even before the global pandemic slowed down most major productions. Also, similar Netflix shows like The Witcher and Umbrella Academy have had gaps of at least 18 months between seasons. Shadow and Bone season 2 will probably get a release date of late 2022 or early 2023.

Shadow and Bone Season one was met with mixed reviews. Shadow and Bone season two may be a chance for the show to get better reviews since it won’t compare to HBO’s Game of Thrones or A Song of Ice and Fire book series. It will, however, still face competition from other fantasy dramas like Netflix’s The Witcher, which gets rave reviews!

“It didn’t take long for me to grow bored with this series,” wrote one reviewer. “The writing was bland.” At least other reviewers were slightly kinder! The show got mixed reviews, but it seems like most people thought it had potential as a fantasy drama- we’ll see if Shadow and Bones season two can live up to these high expectations!
