Marvel has announced that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released in 2023! The third instalment, to the Guardians franchise, was originally set for release in 2020, but with Marvel’s recent acquisition; by Disney, it looks like they want to get ahead; of their competition and get out a year early. The last film in the trilogy; is expected to focus more on the family dynamics; between Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, and Groot; as they go up against Thanos one last time.

Release Date:

Fans have been waiting very patiently; for Vol. 3 of Guardians of the Galaxy, but we now know specifically when the highly anticipated sequel; will hit theatres. The Guardian of the Galaxy release date was revealed; in a new video released by Marvel Studios, touting the return of movie theatres. Which also boasted some exciting new footage; from other upcoming Marvel movies. And while we knew previously that Guardians 3 was going to be released; sometime in 2023, we know now the exact date it will hit theatres: May 5, 2023.

Expected Cast Members:

The cast is expected to be made up of the starters and then some new additions. From what we know, Drax will remain as one of the Guardians (surprising no one), Peter Quill’s father Ego will return; from his exile in outer space. A female villain with an unknown identity has been sighted; onset before getting chased by Star-Lord, which most likely means she could serve as an adversary or love interest for him.

Other returning actors include Mantis, who’ll still have baby Groot piggybacking onto her back, Nebula, who appears to be wearing more sensible clothing this time around after being rescued by Gamora at the end of Volume II, but only because she was possessed by Thanos’ daughter and Nebula refused to give up her search for revenge which means she could return, the Collector who will most likely be a treasure-thirsty ally of Guardians and it’s rumored that we’ll see an even bigger role from Yondu (Michael Rooker), Quill’s father Ego is back in space after he was exiled at the end of Vol. II, but this time around, things are going to change as he wants more than just Peter; instead, now he has acquired what looks like knowledge about cosmic power!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Plot:

So we know that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. III will be set after Avengers: Infinity War and before Avengers IV, according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige during an interview with BBC Radio One in December 2017. For those who are unfamiliar with what happens at the end of Volume II, it is revealed that Thanos has come for Gamora, but she sacrifices herself instead because Peter (Quill) loved her more than anyone else. However, this time around, things are going to change as he now wants more than just Quill; instead, now he’s acquired some cosmic power.

Rumours about Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 3:

The Guardians are set to come face-to-face with Adam Warlock for some unknown reason, as he was teased at the end of Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos uses the Time Stone from his Gauntlet. It has been rumoured that it will also explore what happened between Nebula and Gamora before Volume II.

THE NEWS:

In a recent interview, Bautista signalled that he’s done playing Drax following the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie. With headlines about Drax’s impending demise making the rounds, Bautista took to Twitter to correct the record — but still confirm his plans to leave the MCU.

“Drax isn’t going anywhere,” said Bautista. “He just won’t be played by this dude!”

Bautista’s remarks triggered from Gunn: “There’s no Drax without you, buddy!” The filmmaker described Bautista, who has recently been cast in director Rian Johnson’s upcoming Knives Out sequel, as someone who “could never be replaced.”

But is it true that Drax can’t be replaced in the MCU? As Secretary of Defense Nimzicki tells President Thomas Whitmore, “That’s not entirely accurate.”
