Many websites provide real-life stories from queer individuals about their life experiences, or even just positive articles about queer topics, such as family values and love relationships.

What is the plot of the story?

The story starts with the main character, a high school freshman named Keiichi. Keiichi falls in love with a male student named Masaki. The two become close friends and share everything from media to clothes. After high school, Masaki’s mother contacts Keiichi and asks him to come over for dinner; however, his father isn’t home yet from work so he is alone with his mother. They eat dinner together, but when it’s time for the family to go home Masaki suddenly becomes nervous about going out in public.

Who is in the cast? What role did each character portray?

The cast includes Renee Elise Goldsberry, Eva Reign, Cherry Kahlo, Jordan Kei, Brad Nosaka, Dean Haspiel, and Julia Wolfe. Renee Elise Goldsberry played Masaki in the play. Eva Reign plays Keiichi’s mother. Cherry Kahlo plays Masaki’s mother, who is also known as the Queen of Queer Japan. The Queen has a very prominent role in the movie, but she is pleased to see her daughter become a queen rather than an actor or musician. Jordan Kei played Masaki’s father, Mr. Kei; Brad Nosaka portrayed Mrs.

What are the difficulties they face?

Goldsberry, Reign, and Kahlo had to learn a lot of Japanese languages to portray their roles well. Jordan Kei, who plays the director of the school play that Masaki was in, had to do research on the Japanese culture and its queer community to portray his role as Mrs. Kei. The Queen of Queer Japan cannot be seen without a wig and was filmed without her wig on so much that her hair was completely dry after filming ended. Although she loved playing as herself in front of the camera, she is seen smiling with pride when she sees her daughter’s character become queen.

Who is the antagonist? What are its motives?

The antagonist is the teacher of Keiichi’s class who is against the homosexual community and insults Masaki on numerous occasions during the movie. His motive for acting this way toward Masaki is because his father told him becoming friends with a member of the LGBT community would ruin his reputation as a straight man. The antagonist’s motives are resolved when Mr. Kei challenges him to a fist fight which results in his defeat; however, this behavior comes from Masaki’s father, not from Masaki himself.

What are the epic scenes?

The epic scenes are when Keiichi first meets the Queen of Queer Japan and they become very close friends. It also becomes very emotional when Masaki’s father challenges the teacher to a fist fight. Instead of punching each other, they hug it out and come to a resolution about their conflict. The most loved character is Masaki. People loved her style, the way she smiles, and the way she moves her hands when speaking. They also love how she was confused about her sexuality at first.

Would you recommend watching this? 

I would recommend watching this movie to anyone who needs to see a good LGBT film that is heartwarming and portrays great people in addition to its positive message on gay family values. The greatest thing about this movie is the subtle messages of hope and love between all types of people, which the audience can feel without even realizing it.
