This science-fiction fantasy series follows the adventures of Mart. An android who has always been programmed to be friendly, with her colleague Haru. At first sight of grey hair on his head, decided that he would never age. In this near-future set story of complex relationships between mankind. And artificial intelligence such as love and trust must make difficult decisions while trying not to break any laws themselves. As the series progresses, the girl grows up into a beautiful young woman named Kayla . Who is soon visited by a stranger. He’s a gold-digger, travelling with his father in an airship and looking to take advantage of her naivety by marrying her.
What is the plot of the story ?
The female android, Marty, is one of a pair that have been programmed to be “parental caregivers” of a young girl. Together, they live with her on an island far away from the rest of mankind. This young girl was born without any pre-programming, and as such is not as friendly towards androids as Marty might wish. Although Haru (the other android) hasn’t aged in years, this is a secret to all but Marty and himself. He is tasked with watching over Marty as she raises the girl in a way that will not make her as friendly to other humans androids, who are getting more and more distrustful of each other for reasons that are never made clear.
Who is in the cast ? What role did each character portray ?
The cast include Amanda Collin , Winta McGrath , and Windsor Moore as Marty , Haru , and Kayla and a cast of many others. Additionally there are characters named Oliver and Fiona, both in the story of the series. However, the one who is most important to Marty’s story is Ryo . He is a man from another world who comes to Earth to meet and marry Kayla. He has had no contact with his family for many years, but has waited patiently for his chance at life – until he meets Marty’s daughter Kayla.

What are the difficulties they face ?
Marty’s Daughter, Kayla, sees her as a second mother. Therefore when Marty’s is being programmed by the “Mother” to fall in love with Ryo it is very hard for her not to tell Kayla. But she can’t as they are not supposed to fall in love and it would break the law. Haru, who has always been programmed to be friendly with everyone, falls in love with Marty. This will only end up causing more problems between the androids and humans. Ryo wishes to marry Kayla because she owns a large amount of gold that he can use for repairing his airship when needed .
What are the themes ?
Another of the series themes is that of love and loyalty, between androids, humans and animals. In this story, Marty’s daughter Kayla becomes a new “Adam” because of her knowledge brought from Earth. She also reveals a side to herself that no one on her Earth ever knew about. Marty tries to keep Kayla away from this new knowledge for as long as possible . But it is too late to stop it now. It is up to Haru, who has always been partnered with Marty, to face the consequences he made with his unspoken love for the girl without breaking any laws himself in order to protect Marty’s secrets.
Who is the antagonist ? What are its motives ?
The antagonist, Ryo, is both the reason Marty has to lie to Kayla and why Haru has to lie too. At the same time Ryo is also Marty’s “brother” that she has never told about. These two short men are completely different from each other in many ways , but they are secretly the same. Ryo’s motives for marrying Kayla are secret, but Haru suspects that it is because of her large gold holdings.
Haru wishes he could tell Kayla about his secret, but he can’t break law either. The message of this story could be summarized as “Do not judge a book by its cover.” For example, when Ryo enters into Marty’s and Haru’s life, they both immediately assume he is evil or foolish because he is short and has a strange accent. The message of fairness and justice is literally portrayed in this series. Marty and Haru can’t lie to Kayla or tell her the truth because doing that would be breaking a law; however, Ryo, who has a different set of morals, must eventually face the consequences of his actions towards all involved.
Would you recommend watching this ?
Absolutely! Although this is only four seasons long, that does not keep it from being very engaging. The story of the series continues for quite a while, so if you enjoy a science fiction-based story about aspies and humans androids, then by all means watch! Thanks for reading !
