The Matrix 4 will be the fourth installment in this classic franchise, and it’s sure to be another blockbuster hit. This post will walk you through all of the latest updates on The Matrix 4, including what we know about the plot so far, who might star in it, and when we can expect it to come out!
About the “Matrix” Movies
The Matrix is a 1999 science fiction thriller written and directed by The Wachowskis, starring Keanu Reeves as Neo. The film follows the protagonist’s journey into his world within The Matrix: “a simulated reality created by sentient machines to pacify and subdue the human population.”
The Matrix: Resurrections Renewal Status
In The Matrix: Reloaded, Neo is dead. The fate of mankind rests in the hands of The One, who has been freed from The Matrix’s control—a choice that will be made by The Oracle and her sisters. The Architect offers to show a new way to the door out for humanity, but this time, he needs two people; one male and one female.
The Wachowskis have also said they plan on making at least four more movies after completing their current saga – which means it could take up to eight years before we see what was originally called “the final chapter” (Matrix Revolutions) come to life!
Official Release Date for The Matrix: Resurrections
The Wachowskis are also exploring new ways to expand on their original trilogy’s storyline, including a prequel which is set in between The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions. Details about this project are scarce, but they say it will be more like an animated movie than anything else as far as length goes. They’re currently “in talks” with Disney over distribution rights for the film, expected to carry its own subtitle if released at all!
The official release date for The Matrix 4 is December 22, 2021.
The Matrix 4 Plot Predictions and Story Overview
The Matrix is a science fiction movie series. The first and third films in the trilogy were written by The Wachowskis while they wrote The Matrix Reloaded with Larry, Lana’s brother. The franchise has grossed over $ billion at the worldwide box office, but it was not their intention to make money from this enterprise! They only wanted to create something that “shows people what’s happening inside their computer.”

They had always planned for there to be more than just three movies, so fans of The Matrix should look forward to many sequels down the line because The Wachowskis have already said they are planning around six sequels total; four will continue after Neo’s story while two others would explore other narratives within the same The Matrix universe.
The Matrix reboot would be the first in a series of prequels and sequels, which means there will eventually be The Matrix: The Beginning!
The Wachowskis have not yet confirmed; if they are directing any future films. But we can hope that this is just because their schedules haven’t aligned; with production dates so far. They’ve previously said they’re “super excited” about a potential return; to The Matrix franchise, saying it’s very much still alive; for them and that at some point, they’ll find an idea compelling enough to do another one.
