About the Movie “Green Lantern”: What was the movie about?

Green Lantern is an American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Martin Campbell directed a script written by Greg Berlanti and comic book writers Michael Green, Marc Guggenheim, and Michael Goldenberg. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan (the title hero), Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, Peter Sarsgaard as Dr. Hector Hammond, Mark Strong as Sinestro, Temuera Morrison as Abin Sur, and Angela Bassett as Amanda Waller with Martin Campbell portraying a U.S Senator in a cameo appearance.

In an interview with MTV News, Martin explains that he originally wanted Ryan Reynolds or Channing Tatum for Hal Jordan, but neither were available at the time. But Martin had his reservations about taking on this particular project,” Martin said. “I like to make films that I’m passionate about and could not find my passion for it so declined; then I was approached again later with an offer from Warner Brothers and accepted.”

As you can imagine, there were many cooks in the kitchen when he started directing due to all of the rewrites. Martin felt as though they tried too hard to please everyone, which leads him into saying: “There’s no point pleasing 130 people out there because if one person doesn’t like something, everybody goes ‘ugh’!”

“Green Lantern: Emerald Knights,” a 2011 animated film, is the eighth installment in Martin’s “DC Universe Animated Original Movies” line. And his army of fear mongers and how they choose five individuals who later become known as the Green Lantern Corps.

The opening scene begins during a battle between good guys like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman; against baddies such as Lex Luthor, Circe, or Giganta when suddenly one by one all are spirited away; into another realm; where they find themselves battling strange creatures on behalf of some unknown power.
