Actor Winston Duke To Get Back In “Black Panther 2” As M’Baku!

Winston Duke has confirmed that he will be returning to the Marvel franchise as M’Baku in “Black Panther 2”. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Winston said: “I’m just excited about what’s coming up next. I can’t wait to put on that suit again and do my thing as M’Baku.”

About the “Black Panther” Movies

The Black Panther movies are a series of superhero films based on the Marvel Comics character. The first in the series was released in 2018 and set records for being one of the highest-grossing films ever, as well as having an all-black cast making it “the most successful movie with a black director.”

The Black Panther sequel is set to be released on July 8, 2022.

Actor Winston Duke will be coming back for more of what he does best: playing the role of M’Baku the warrior chieftain from Wakanda in Marvel Studio’s black panther sequel.

M’Baku Character Analysis

This is the first time Winston Duke will be returning to reprise his role as M’Baku, and he couldn’t be more thrilled. Winston has been doing a lot of things since Black Panther came out including getting married and lobbying for representation in Congress.

Winston had no idea when or how long this visit would last on-screen which might make for an exciting surprise for viewers. He can’t say much about the story but he did comment on what it was like to be invited back by director Ryan Coogler, “He said that I had changed his life and inspired him.”

But Winston also added how grateful he is to have been chosen for this role in Black Panther because it allowed audiences around the world to see a more diverse representation of people with abilities in America.

“It’s important that we represent our culture,” Winston says.

“I am honored at being able to play M’Baku again.”

Winston has kept himself busy outside of acting as well since playing M’Baku such as campaigning for representative positions which would make him one of four black people in the Winston-Salem city council.

He has also been doing a lot of work to put on more events for students at Winston-Salem University, his alma mater which is where he met Ryan Coogler and was asked to participate in Black Panther.

Potential Plotline for Black Panther 2

In the Winston Duke-penned article for AV Club; he discusses how a potential plotline; for Black Panther could be on M’Baku’s rise to power; as king of Wakanda.

It would be interesting to see Winston Duke reprise his role in “Black Panther” following Aneka and Okoye (Danai Gurira) defeating him at Warrior Falls; during the events of the first movie.

This also opens up opportunities that allow Winston Duke to portray more than one character; throughout this storyline, such as T’Challa’s rival. This is what happened with Andy Serkis who played an array of different characters including Ulysses Klaue in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Supreme Leader Snoke in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It’s official, Winston Duke will be returning for the sequel of Black Panther. The actor confirmed the news on Instagram with a photo captioned “I am going back home again.”
