Netflix’s “The Witcher” is a television series adapted from the best-selling book series of the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Sophie Brown has been cast in the role of Ciri, the daughter of Geralt and Yennefer. She will be one of four young female leads alongside Freya Allan as Princess Renfro, Anya Chalotra as Queen Calanthe, and Jodhi May as Fringilla Karnstein. Sophie Brown recently made an appearance in Netflix’s Sex Education where she played Otis’ (Asa Butterfield) love interest Sophie.

Netflix’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy book franchise about Geralt of Rivia is long overdue. With all the hype surrounding Netflix’s partnership with Polish production company Platige Image, there are high hopes amongst fans that their latest TV adaptation will finally do justice to the novels they’ve been waiting so patiently for.

About “The Witcher” Prequel

Netflix’s “The Witcher” will be a new story set before the events of Andrzej Sapkowski’s original novels. It tells the tale of Geralt, one of medieval Europe’s last true monster hunters who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. The first season is expected to consist of ten episodes with scripts written by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and will cover at least two seasons worth of content per episode. Sophie Brown has been cast as young Ciri (played in later seasons by another actress). As such, she won’t appear until Season Two or Three if an additional series are commissioned.

Sophie Brown cast as young Ciri (Played by another actress) – Netflix’s The Witcher

Netflix announced Sophie Brown as the lead for its upcoming series, The Witcher. Sophie is a British actress with credits including “The Little Drummer Girl” and “Da Vinci’s Demons.” She will play Ciri who was previously portrayed by Naomi Watts in Sapkowski’s books and Freya Allan on TV screens. Sophie also starred in Patrick Rothfuss’ adaptation of his book ‘The Name of the Wind’. Netflix has not yet released an air date for season one but it is expected to be late 2021 or early 2022.

The Witcher Prequel Potential Plotline

Based on the popular books, The Witcher; tells the origins of Geralt of Rivia; and Ciri (Sophie Brown) as they battle; to save humanity; from a dark medieval reality. Sophie will play young Ciri; who is growing up in an orphanage for girls; after her mother was killed by invaders. One day she meets; witcher Vesemir played by Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson while fleeing through Novigrad before being taken in by Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra). Sophie joins Cameron Monaghan (‘Shameless’) and Freya Allan(‘The War Of Thrones’).

Will there be any star guest appearances in “The Witcher” Prequel?

There will be many guest appearances in the prequel series, as Sophie Brown has said that other cast members of “The Witcher” is set to make a cameo. Sophie says there’s no guarantee which actors she’ll meet on set, but it would not surprise her if we saw Henry Cavill or Mahesh Jadu.

Sophie also revealed that they were filming at the start of this year and season one is due for release later this year!

Fans have been eagerly awaiting news about “The Witcher” TV show since Netflix announced last October that their adaptation was finally happening.
