Downtown Abbey 2 is coming soon! With the final episode of Downton Abbey airing in 2015, fans everywhere are wondering: when will Downtown Abbey Season 2 be released? We’re here to answer all your questions about the upcoming season.

The fans might have to wait for the spin-off a little longer. Focus Features has pushed the release date for Downton Abbey Season 3 from December 22, 2021, to March 18, 2022.

The film will now compete against “Unbreakable Boy,” a drama with Zachary Levi, Meghann Fahy, and Patricia Heaton. The following weekend will bring the juggernaut that is “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” but since “Downton Abbey 2” appeals to older audiences it should be some nice counter-programming to Marvel’s younger-skewing release.

Downton Abbey 2 Spin-off Details:

The new film in the venerable British series will bring back most of the main cast from seasons past. Keep your eyes out for Hugh Bonneville, Oscar winner Maggie Smith, Elizabeth McGovern, and Michelle Dockery as well as Jim Carter, Joanne Froggatt, and Brendan Coyle who played their kids.

An ensemble of British actors will appear in “Downton Abbey” movie, including Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye, and Dominic West. Writer Julian Fellowes is creating the screenplay which Emmy Award-winning Gareth Neame and Emmy Award-winning Liz Trubridge will produce with Fellowes. The film’s director is Simon Curtis (“My Week With Marilyn”). Production wraps next month.

Universal Pictures International is releasing the movie “Downton Abbey 2” on the same date internationally. The first “Downton Abbey” grossed an impressive $194.3 million and centered around a royal visit, but there’s no word yet on what posh visitors may get a hankering for in Downton Abbey 2.
