Scott Adkins, who plays the role of “The Director” in John Wick 4, has talked about his character and what to expect from the film. The actor has said that he’s feeling a little pressure playing such an important part in the sequel, but he is confident that it will succeed. Lionsgate has been teasing John Wick’s next adventure, which will see him re-emerge as a gun for hire after his retirement post-John Wick: Chapter Three.

Production on the sequel began its production last year, and actress Halle Berry was confirmed to star in soon afterward. The first two installments were both directed by Chad Stahelski, while some reports suggest that David Leitch may take over this time around with no word yet from Lionsgate about who would helm John Wick: Chapter three.

John Wick: Chapter Three was a much-needed breath of fresh air for the series. Scott Adkins, who played Ares in both John Wick: Chapter Two and John Wick: Chapter Three, has been confirmed to reprise his role as the son of Gianna D’Antonio (Claudia Gerini).

Adkins also talked about what he thinks will happen next! “It’s kind of an open-ended question,” said Adkins when asked how things would get resolved after all this time following John’s life. “[The] final confrontation is going to be with me.”

As we know from earlier films that are rumored to have led up to this film in some way or another, the son of Gianna D’Antonio is on the hunt for John. “I think it’s going to be a really rough one,” he said about their final meeting, which will take place in New York City.

“It was never just like ‘hey dad, and then we fight.’ It was always brewing.”

Scott Adkins also discussed what his character has been doing in these six years before they finally meet again. “Ares doesn’t spend time with his mom because she’s trying to kill him, so he goes off into hiding.” But now that Ares is working as an assassin himself, he needs more than just an army at his disposal – something that could draw out some parallels between Ares and John. “It’s not just about killing anymore; it’s about getting the job done efficiently and quickly,”

Scott Adkins told Mr. Beaks. “John Wick is a guy who efficiently does his work.”

In this new film, Scott Adkins says that he’ll be squaring off against John wick (the actor) himself – and while they are both skilled fighters in their own right, Adkin says there’s no one better than Reeves when it comes to martial arts. “I think some people are really good at kickboxing or karate, but I don’t know if there’s anyone more proficient at combat than him- so I was always trying to keep up with him,” said Adkins.

As for Scott’s fighting style? “I think I’m more of a street fighter than anything else,” he told Mr. Beaks. “You have to be able to really fight and get in the dirt.”

“I think some people are really good at kickboxing or karate, but I don’t know if there’s anyone more proficient at combat than him – so I was always trying to keep up with him,” said Adkins while talking about his experience fighting Reeves in the new movie.

For those who may not be familiar with Scott’s style of fight, he told Mr. Beaks that it leans towards a street fighter rather than anything else, specifically because of his background.

“I come from a street fighting, bare-knuckle boxing background, so I’m always looking for the fight – it’s in my DNA.,” he said. “In John Wick, they want me to find that but be more subdued, which is hard because I love donnybrooks and coming out of the left-field with a surprise move.”
