Forever Purge: The Movie: Everything We Know About The Thriller

The Forever Purge is an American dystopian action horror film directed by Everardo Gout and co-produced by James DeMonaco.

Delayed from an original July 2020 release date due to the Covid-19 pandemic, The Forever Surge was rescheduled for a new release date by Universal Pictures on 2 July 2021.

The film stars an ensemble cast, which includes James DeMonaco as Alex Monroe and J.K Simmons as the fictional president of the United States, Raymond Gaines.

Synopsis

This Horror Thriller follows protagonist Alex Monroe on a post-apocalyptic Earth where humans are no longer alive. However, there is still violence in an unspecified year that leads him to an underground bunker and makes him a reluctant savior of humanity.

In 2039, all humans are dead except for those living in 12 bunkers across the world. The latest group to see this fate is housed in an underground bunker called Elysium One. It has been two years since they have had contact with anyone outside their own doors- and they are beginning to believe that the world is uninhabitable. The sense of isolation and hopelessness grows stronger as time goes by until the bunker’s overseer converses with someone on his laptop in an unknown location.

Premise

Following the presidential elections from the last year and the abolition of Purge, a Mexican couple escaping from a drug cartel is stranded on a Texas ranch. There, they will be at the mercy of a group of outsiders who plan to unlawfully continue their Purge and turn against the couple to eliminate them.

Plot Summary

The story unfolds from the point of view of an American family who has fled to Mexico and a group of Americans in Texas. Once a game for twelve hours every year is now the only rule in town as America’s Purge night continues. The film’s backdrop is the aftermath of a bloody presidential election, which has left America in chaos. With President Purge and Vice-President Horror dead, an interim government must be established to ensure stability and maintain order as violence runs rampant on American streets.

The new administration finds that its first task will be dealing with national security concerns following the recent terrorist attack. However, one year later, the United States have abolished its annual purge night hoping it would stop all future crimes committed by citizens against each other. But this doesn’t change anything at all for those who are already suffering from deprivation or poverty – society’s most vulnerable populations crave these opportunities just as much as anyone else does; so they continue to commit acts of crime… but now those acts of crime have grown to be much more violent and deadly.
