So far, there has been no news confirming that filming for season 5 of SWAT has begun. The official Twitter account for the series posted an ambiguous message about a “real twist” at the end of episode 9. It also asked fans to wait until next season when Hondo may be demoted.

Season five should answer a lot of the questions stemming from the shocking shakeup after Hondo’s demotion in season four.

The team is still dealing with tensions between cops and black people, which are highlighted by the recent clash between racist officers.
