Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released on March 23rd, 2022. It is set to have a budget three times greater than its predecessor, and with that comes expectations of more special effects.
Plot Speculation: Who’s Behind Doctor Strange?
Doctor Strange’s last adventure on Earth is the set-up for this next one. The doctor has been tasked with protecting the earth; from various invading cosmic forces. And he will have to rely on his powers; as both a doctor and sorcerer in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He’ll also need Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and Bruce Banner, aka Hulk, because they are two heroes who can fend off magical attacks; without being overpowered by them!
In the trailers so far, we know that doctor strange; teams up with Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk, and Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) to save their minds from being destroyed; by Nightmare, who has taken control of overall dimensions. Following doctor strange’s defeat at his hands in Infinity War. However, there are still some unanswered questions; about how doctor strange became such an infamous villain. What happened during those years he was missing after saving Tony Stark’s life in Iron Man?
Doctor Strange will join forces with his old friend Clea (played by Florence Pugh) and her sister Umar (played by Rachelle Lefevre). They are both allies from their days studying magic under The Ancient One together before she died fighting off a horde of demons summoned by Kaecilius.

Villain Speculation
The doctor’s arch-foe, Dormammu, is likely to be the villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He was teased at the end of the first movie, and he has also been confirmed to appear as one of Marvel’s most powerful villains by Kevin Feige. Plus, it would not make sense for him not to show up after appearing so powerfully on-screen last time!
Nightmare is set on destroying doctor stranges mind once again after being defeated at his hands during Infinity War. With doctor strange no longer having access to all six infinity gems meaning that nothing is stopping him from taking over every dimension one after another until he’s finally able to control everything.

The film will be directed by Scott Derrickson and written by C. Robert Cargill, Jon Spaihts, and Scott Derrickson, with Benedict Cumberbatch reprising his role as doctor strange. It’s currently unclear who else will be returning from previous films.
About Doctor Strange
The doctor was introduced to us in 2016. When he arrived back at Sanctum Sanctorum, after a long absence for what seemed; like an urgent meeting with Wong (Benedict Wong), he then learned that Kaecilius had broken; into Kamar-Taj looking for something called the Dark Dimension, which just so happens to be where Dormammu lives! We then see doctor strange enter the Dark Dimension to fight Dormammu.
And when he does, we witness a battle of epic proportions. When doctor Strange returns to our realm from being in this other dimension, that’s basically where reality ceases for him because then he gets taken by Kaecilius and his disciples who planned on taking over Earth with their own dimensions, so they were using doctor Strange as bait. His meeting at Kamar-Taj was interrupted by Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), which thankfully led doctor Strange into realizing what was happening before it happened!
