Michelle McNamara was an American journalist, author, crime blogger, and true
crime obsessive best known for her investigation of the Golden State Killer and co-writing a book about the case with law enforcement.
“I’ll Be Gone In The Dark: One Woman’s Obsessive Search For The Golden State Killer” was published posthumously in February 2018, two years after McNamara died while writing it.
This is one such crime that will not be forgotten anytime soon, thanks to this miniseries.
About the Trailer of “dr. Death”!
The trailer for “Dr. Death,” a new documentary series on HBO based on reporter Michelle McNamara’s book I’ll Be Gone In The Dark, has been released at last! This six-part docuseries explores how Dr James David Holland killed over 200 people as an Ohio surgeon before he was finally convicted.
The series is the latest in HBO’s “True Crime” lineup, which includes Cathouse and The Jinx.
It looks like a chilling crime documentary with an intriguing twist: you’re watching it from McNamara’s point of view. Her investigation into James Holland actually became her obsession that she couldn’t finish before passing away suddenly in 2016 at age 46. It also serves as a window to explore not just what happened but how women are often silenced when they bring up crimes against them and their loved ones.

What is the plot?
Dr. Death tells the story of Dr. Grant Robicheaux, a 33-year-old orthopedic surgeon who was accused in 2018 of raping two women he met on Tinder and sexually assaulting four other women during medical procedures for which he served as their anesthesiologist or otherwise had unprotected sex with them in exchange for drugs they used to fight addiction
The documentary follows McNamara’s investigation into James Holland, a man she found through her online dating profile before realizing that his photos were stolen from someone else’s social media account. Her efforts became a mission to stop him when she realized how many people this convicted felon may have victimized while eluding law enforcement because he lived across state lines in Oklahoma. The series also serves as a memorial to McNamara, who died in 2016 while the project was still underway.
In this trailer for the “Dr. Death” documentary series, director Werner Herzog talks about how his daughter shares her mother’s drive and obsession with stories she feels compelled to tell even if they are sensitive or dangerous–a sentiment that embodies not just McNamara but also many other journalists and filmmakers.
Release details:
HBO plans on releasing all six episodes after premiering each one for 24 hours exclusively on its streaming service HBO GO starting July 15.”
