“Immortal” is a World War II action film about an American soldier who fights against the Nazis in Europe. The movie was released on September 22, 2015, and stars Nicholas Cage as Capt. Joe Ryan. It also features actors like John Cusack, Connie Nielsen, and more!

About the film:

The film starts with Capt. Ryan’s unit being ambushed by Nazi soldiers while they are trying to cross the Rhine River into Germany during WWII. After their boat capsizes, Ryan manages to make his way back across the river with only one other man from his squad at his side- Private James Donovan (played by Dominic Purcell). They end up taking refuge in a barn that has been turned into a makeshift hospital for wounded soldiers.

The scenes of “Immortal” are mostly set in rural villages and towns, but occasionally the viewer is taken to a Nazi military camp. The Nazis are looking for Ryan and Donovan because they have killed six SS soldiers who were also on their way to assassinate Hitler himself. Captain Joe Ryan was an American soldier who fought against the Nazis during World War II; he succeeded in assassinating Hitler with his sidekick James Donovan (played by Dominic Purcell).

The idea for the film came to Jalmari Helander when he was 14 years old. He loved the genre of war movies and read many books about World War II, particularly by Antony Beevor, Richard Overy, and Stephen Ambrose. “I just knew that I wanted to make a movie like this,” said Helander in an interview with HTR’s reporter. The film will follow private Kipseli, who is waging war against the invasion forces together with her fellow countrymen while experiencing dramatic events both during wartime and peacetime that shape her future life. It’s 20 years later when she meets doctor Amelie Kipseli (wife) for the first time; they are both attending their son’s funeral service.

“Immortal” will be released on 2nd December 2021 in the English language only (no subtitles). The first trailer has been already unveiled online by Netflix, which brought us into the dreamlike world created by the director. The setting is a quiet lake with an abandoned village in the background, where our protagonist – Private Kipseli (played by Simone Kessell) wakes up from a dream and starts to explore her surroundings.
