Scream 5: Will It Be The Final Chapter of a Legendary Journey?

They say that all good things come to an end, and in this case, it’s true. The fifth installment of the Scream series, Scream 5, is just on the verge of its release. This final chapter of the horror franchise includes a new killer who is being pursued by Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), and Dewey Riley (David Arquette).

Scream has had a long and legendary journey. The original Scream was released in 1996, following the story of Sidney Prescott as she becomes victim to Ghostface – an unknown killer who targets her and her friends on Halloween night. This film led into two sequels: Scream II (1997) and Scream III (2000). These three films brought horror back to movie screens with their shocking twists that were both unexpected yet satisfyingly familiar at the same time. In 2004, Wes Craven took us all by surprise when he announced there would be four new chapters added onto his groundbreaking trilogy: Scream IV through VI…and now it’s over!

Plot

The opening scene of Scream V is set in Woodsboro, California. We watch as Sidney’s long-lost cousin Jill (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) moves to town and seems to want nothing more than a fresh start. But when she makes some new friends at her high school, she finds herself thrown into the middle of another mystery: someone is killing students in their sleep!

The second scene starts off with teenager Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere), who was revealed on Scream IV to be Ghostface’s daughter, receiving an ominous phone call from “Daddy” telling her that it will all end this time…and then we are pulled back six months earlier where events take shape for what will eventually become one of cinema’s most talked-about franchises ever.”

The cast also includes Sydney’s daughter Jill who just moved back to town after being away for many years, Dewey Riley Jr., Sidney’s onetime boyfriend from high school who became chief of police at age 19 but left his post six years ago, Gale Weathers – an investigative reporter and author from Stab magazine whose true identity remains unknown…and you can’t forget Randy Meeks, Sidney’s faithful childhood friend who became a deputy in the Los Angeles Police Department and now serves as one of Dewey Jr.’s trusted confidants.

Release date of Scream V
