About the movie:
Death on the Nile is a sequel to Agatha Christie’s classic novel of suspense. In this new book detective, Hercule Poirot has retired from solving crimes and is taking his first vacation in years when he receives an urgent cable summoning him to Egypt. Someone has been brutally murdered at one of Cairo’s most luxurious hotels with a blow dart that kills instantly–a weapon not yet seen by Westerners. The victim was an American millionaire who had just married into Egyptian aristocracy—and her death threatens us all. One thing is clear: only Poirot can solve it…by matching wits with terrorists, industrialists, spies, revolutionaries, and an assassin—all in the days before World War II began.
Death on the Nile Cast:
The Death on the Nile cast is yet to be announced. It is rumoured that Kenneth Branagh will direct and star as Poirot in this release, but there has been no confirmation from UbiSoft or Disney at this time.
Is it important to watch The Murder on the Orient Express before Murder on the Nile?
It is not necessary to watch The Murder on the Orient Express before watching Death on the Nile. But it may give you insight into Poirot as a character and his abilities in solving these kinds of cases.
Death on the Nile Plot:
The plot; for Death on the Nile; has not been released; at this time, but we are expecting; that it will be very similar; to other Agatha Christie novels, such as And Then There Were None or Ten Little Indians. We do know some spoilers; from an article with Kenneth Branagh; about this upcoming release: “I’m trying to create something; which feels like what; I would imagine if she’d written today.” He also says, “What’s really appealing is; its timelessness – set just before World War I, it’s about a world that was changing very fast.”
We can assume; the plot will be centred; around solving a murder. Branagh; also says in this article, “You see Agatha Christie; as an intellectual and you think of her as someone; who has extraordinary knowledge and understanding; of human psychology.” He believes Death on the Nile is not just about whodunit but what led to them committing their crime. The actor also said he hopes audiences are left with some questions after watching Death on the Nile, such as “Who really killed?” or maybe even wondering themselves if they could have done something different to stop it from happening.
Branagh went on to say when discussing his thoughts for Poirot: “[I]n order to solve the crime, Poirot has to be an everyman. He cannot have extraordinary skills.” Branagh also points out that “Poirot is not a superhero; he’s deeply human.”
