Powerpuff Girls: A Reboot Live-Action TV Series

The Powerpuff Girls are back! The original series aired from 1998-2005; it was a huge part of our childhoods, and now the reboot is going to be live-action. It will still have that classic PPG feel with its signature color scheme but in a new way. We can’t wait for this show to come out so we can relive all those great memories of watching the girls do what they do best–saving the world before bedtime!

The Powerpuff Girls, our much-loved ‘90s cartoon characters now as disillusioned 20-year-olds, were filmed in Atlanta with the pilot episode airing on The CW in April. The live-action reboot has been put on hold. Deadline reports that the production is expected to reshoot its pilot episode, and there’s no indication of when it will be completed or go into series.

What is the Powerpuff Girls grown-up show about?

After spending their whole childhood fighting evil, the girls walk away from crime to lead normal lives and hope nobody needs them again.

In March 2021, Variety published new information about how the series is depicting Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup as adults. Here’s their description of them:

Blossom: Though she mastered the discipline of multiple advanced degrees, [Blossom] still suffers from childhood trauma which has caused her to act indiscriminately and avoid humans. She now aims to become a leader again, not for the sake of saving people but this time on her own terms.

Bubbles: Bubbles retains her cutesy persona, but she has grown into a confident woman with admirable smarts as well. She unreluctantly finds herself defending the world when she rebels against her corporate masters over a relatively small incident.

Buttercup: Buttercup, the best fighter of The Powerpuff Girls in its heyday, was the rebellious one. Despite her tough exterior, Buttercup is a sensitive person, and she prefers to live an anonymous life.

When Powerpuff Will Release?

It’s unclear at this point what the schedule will be, especially now that producers have decided to re-shoot the pilot. The reboot of the Powerpuff Girls live-action movie is in the early stages, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
