Russian Doll Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

Russian Doll Season 2

It’s been a year since Russian Doll Season 1 premiered, and now the highly anticipated second season is set to debut on Netflix. What can we expect? We answer all your burning questions about the upcoming series!

Will there be a Season 2 of Russian Doll?

The Russian Doll series has been renewed for a second season. While we can’t know for sure if there will be a third season of Russian Doll, showrunner Leslye Headland did confirm that the original creators pitched it as an arcing storyline.

When will Season 2 of Russian Doll be released?

For fans who watched the show when it first premiered, it feels like forever since we saw Nadia’s horrifying reflection in that bathroom mirror. Season 2 of the Russian Doll series was put on hold last year in response to a virus pandemic, but production is expected to resume this summer. It seems likely that the series will be returning for its second season in late summer, given filming is still ongoing and production began in March 2021.

How many episodes are in Russian Doll Season 2?

In a recent update from IMDb, there are at least eight new episodes in the works. To date, they have published one season of 10 episodes, and it looks like that number might be doubled for Season 2.

What Will The Cast Of Russian Doll Be In Season 2?

Spoiler alert: The ending of the first season, where Nadia and Alan (Charlie Barnett) finally escape their time loop and have a little parade in lower Manhattan, works as an effective conclusion. However, Headland mentioned that although the show could go in many different directions, Nadia will always be present in some way. When initially pitched, Nadia was an integral part of each of the proposed seasons. But in a nonstandard way that would reflect Lyonne’s presence throughout the show. The fate of characters like Nadia, played by Greta Lee, Rebecca Henderson, and Elizabeth Ashley. But they have made their mark on Nadia’s storyline, so it’s possible they will continue to play an important role in what is to come. There is no word yet whether we’ll be seeing more of Charlie Barnett as Alan or Chloë Sevigny as Nadia’s mother in flashbacks, but it’s definitely a possibility.

Will Nadia at least be able to stay alive for a little bit?

There have been few details announced about the plot of Season 2. The actress told IndieWire, “The show certainly has some legs for more bizarre scenarios.” With its autobiographical nature reflecting Lyonne’s struggles with addiction in the past and hinting at what it might be like to live a drug-free life, the next season may offer an entertaining look into how to put that struggle behind you. Despite dying more often than any one person should during the first season, Lyonne hinted that she is happy to be living at the end of it.

In a postmortem about the ambiguous ending of the first season, Lyonne also hinted that there are many versions of her character walking around depending on how successful they were in escaping their loops: “It raises the question of how many versions [of Lyonne] are there altogether?” In this video game sense, it presents a question of whether the character enters another scene or scenario at that moment.

Are there any new cast members?

The long wait for more of the show is definitely worth it because it looks like they’re going to include a lot of exciting actors. Variety said that Annie Murphy, who had a huge role on Schitt’s Creek and played many other parts in Russian Doll, will have an acting part in Season 2. There has not been any information released about the character she’ll play or whether her character will be as outlandish as Alexis Rose (her character on Schitt’s Creek). As soon as there’s either clue, we can’t wait to see what happens next!

Deadline reported in mid-March that Carolyn Michelle Smith would reoccur in the second season of Russian Doll. Sharlto Copley and other cast members are recurring in season 2 of Russian Doll. It’s being kept under wraps which the South African actor is playing, but Deadline confirmed in April that he would appear. All other characters are a secret too, so they’re likely to be eccentric personalities.
