Recently, Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson; has been addressing Disney’s lack of Black Widow merchandise and their exclusion; from social media. Now she is taking it a step further by sue the company. It all started when Marvel announced Black Widow; as one of its first female-led superhero films – but with so little marketing or products to buy for Black Widow fans, some people have speculated; that there must be more going on behind closed doors; than we know about.

It was not until after Avengers: Endgame came out in April 2019 that many noticed an increase; in Black Widow merch online and at stores like Target and Walmart. In her lawsuit filed against Walt Disney Co., Johnson claims they failed to release the film; despite having made plans since 2019 to do so.

In the suit, Johnson alleges Disney has been “overtly and covertly” trying to kill Black Widow; by refusing to release it; as promised for them; not to lose money on a film that would have out-grossed Black Panther, which is currently Marvel’s highest-grossing movie; of all time. She also claims they refused her requests; for additional merchandising opportunities; related to Black Widow. Because they wanted fans’ focus instead on Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame – both films with male leads who had their own action figures already produced.”

Black Widow Movie Reviews and Ratings

Reviewers: Black Widow is the latest Marvel movie to be released this year. Black Widow was initially set for a November release but then pushed back to July 2021, yet again delaying its anticipated premiere date that would have coincided with Avengers Endgame’s debut in theaters. Scarlett’s Character has been called “Marvel’s most important female hero,” and fans are waiting patiently for it to hit theaters later this year. Black widow stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff (aka Black Widow), who can fight like 0073-wolverine while wearing a tight leather catsuit.

Users on Rotten Tomatoes agree, giving it an average rating of 66%. Critic reviews were mixed, from The Guardian calling it “a letdown” to The New York Times giving Black Widow a glowing review.

Scarlett Johansson, Black Widow herself, has been in the headlines lately. She’s suing Disney for the Black Widow film release being canceled, and she is not happy about it either!

In a statement to Deadline on behalf of her production company Ghost House Pictures: “We were surprised and saddened by Marvel’s sudden decision.” The complaint filed in New York State Supreme Court said that Black Widow was supposed to be an original story written exclusively for the big screen but instead will now become just yet another Hollywood blockbuster based on a comic book we’ve already seen.

This Black Widow film release lawsuit has many people wondering if the project will ever happen at all! The Black Widow character first appeared back in 2010 as part of Iron Man II, where she played an undercover Russian spy who then became second-in-command for S.H.I.E.L.D., later turning into one of Captain America’s biggest allies against Hydra.
