The top-grossing movie of the year so far, at the time of writing this article, is none other than “Top Gun: Maverick”, which has grossed $505.6 million and counting in domestic box office ticket sales. More impressively, it has surpassed Christian Bale’s “The Dark Knight” (which brought in $448.8 million at the time of writing this article), and it is currently closing in on James Cameron’s “Avatar” (which grossed $760.5 million at the time of writing this article).
After Tom Cruise, who played Lt. Pete Mitchell in the first movie, and Val Kilmer, who played Lt. Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in the original movie, were spotted filming a possible promotional video for the sequel. The movie has had a 25-year gap since the last film, and it seems as if the filmmakers are not rushing anything.
As of now, there is no official confirmation on the cast and crew that will be working on “Top Gun: Maverick”. Which is possibly named after Cruise’s character in the movie. But we can speculate that Val Kilmer will return to reprise his role as Lt. Tom “Iceman” Kazansky because they already filmed a video with him and Cruise.
Introduction to the Top Gun Maverick
Every year the Top Gun Maverick series has something new, exciting, and different for its donors. The list of completed projects is quite impressive. Everything from a new wing at the local firehouse made possible by donations to help with other upcoming major construction needs. Also, to privately funding their jet fuel supplier providing better pricing for the club’s members.
The Top Gun Maverick is also one of the most philanthropic communities in our country and they have been recognized on a national level for donating time and money to many different levels of charities.
I have spent many nights after a good day of work, or even during the day, watching the Top Gun Maverick’s flyovers and participating in many of their charity events. It is indeed something very special that no one wants to miss. It is so much more than a simple flyover, but is a chance for everyone to come together. And enjoy seeing such amazing aircraft flying above our skies.
The storyline of the Top Gun Maverick
In the recent release of Top Gun: Maverick, audiences are introduced to a new protagonist in the form of Navy Lieutenant Pete Mitchell, played by Tom Cruise. As a senior pilot with the elite flying group known as the “Magnum” squadron. Mitchell has garnered his fair share of war stories and is now one of “America’s ace pilots”. However, Mitchell’s true identity as Maverick’s protagonist has been largely unknown to audiences.
After introducing Top Gun as a real-life military pilot and mention of the nickname “Maverick”, Wikipedia writes in their description:
“As Top Gun and its sequel Maverick, both released in 1986, were mostly fiction and did not star any actual military pilots, the U.S. Navy decided to create fictional pilots and flying programs that were based on real events.
