The Boys is a comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson that was published by the now-defunct Wildstorm imprint. It tells the story of a black ops team charged with monitoring and, when necessary, eliminating superpowered beings. The Boys is a deconstruction of the superhero genre that focuses on the dark side of superhero culture and tropes. It is considered to be one of the most controversial comics of the 21st century, due to its extreme violence, profanity, and graphic imagery.
What is the plot of the story ?
The Boys takes place in a world with superheroes. In this world the main superhero team is known as the Seven, or The Seven Guardians of the Galaxy. A superhero named Homelander leads this team, which also consists of Starlight, Queen Maeve, The Frenchman, Black Noir, The Female and Hells Angel. At some point in the past a group of super powered beings decide to form an assembly that would act as a watchdog group to insure that no hero abused his/her power and went rogue. They called themselves “The Boys.
Who is in the cast ? What are its motives ?
The cast include Antony Starr , Karl Urban , Simon Pegg . The Boys are an assembly of super powered beings who monitor and take down super powered beings that go rogue. In real life, the Boys are a group of CIA agents that were brought together to stop the superheroes. The comic, their purpose is to destroy the Seven, or take down those heroes that go rogue. In real life, they are tasked with stopping super powered beings that go rogue. This group is set up in a reality much like Sandman and Kingdom Come’s (minus the magic), where every time a figure goes rogue they create another superhero to try to stop them.
What are the difficulties they face ?
The Seven are the top heroes in the world. They have superpowers, which grants them the ability to do almost anything. The main heroine of the story is Starlight, who is typically considered to be one of the weakest members of The Seven due to her early on drug and alcohol use. Her power gives her a star shaped birthmark that glows when she uses her powers. The Boys have worked hard to get where they are today, but they are still often seen as underdogs and outsiders. However, they are determined to win the war they are fighting.
Who is the antagonist ? what are its motives ?
The main antagonist of the series is Billy Butcher. He was once a member of The Seven, but left to become the leader of The Boys. The antagonist Billy Butcher has super strength and a high powered energy concussion blast that he can shoot out of his hands. He has also been known to be quite skilled with his knives, using them as both projectiles and close range weapons. He also wears armor, which makes him even more powerful than he already is.
What are the epic scenes ?
The epic scenes include The Seven taking advantage of Billy’s apparent betrayal of the team, and tricking him into a death trap that leaves him comatose. The Boys then take on The Seven in a battle at Midtown High that spurs the public to side with them . And not the superhero team. However, this victory is short lived as the Boys learn that they now have to deal with an Alien invasion that threatens to destroy Earth. In their attack, the Aliens seem to have Billy Butcher in custody . So the Boys decide to rescue him. They discover that Butcher was actually double crossed and abandoned by his team.
Would you recommend watching this ?
I would recommend watching this! I would recommend watching this because it is a very realistic take of what can happen in the future if superheroes don’t have any set rules and/or laws to follow. It has much of what we, as a society, fear could happen with superheroes. Superheroes all having different morals and motives. Thanks for reading !
