A sequel to Jurassic Park, Jurassic World Dominion takes place on the same island and follows a team of scientists who have created dinosaurs in captivity. It’s more than simply an adventure story with plenty of action and suspense—it’s also a cautionary tale about what would happen if we were to ever release these prehistoric animals into the wild. If you think that doesn’t sound like an entertaining read, then you’re not familiar with Michael Crichton .

What is the plot of the story ?

The action begins as two dinosaurs escape from the park and terrorize the city of San Diego. Years later, the island is now an entertainment complex where guests can observe many different dinosaurs up close. A team of scientists works on a top-secret project to sequence the genome of extinct species and bring them back to life. When they succeed, they’re in for a big surprise that could change the future of mankind. Michael Crichton based the story on real-life advances that have already enabled researchers to sequence DNA fragments from extinct species, then artificially produce and insert them into the genome of a living organism.

What are the themes ?

The themes of the story include playing god, greed, and bioengineering. The team plays god by changing nature at its core through genetic engineering. It’s one thing to study dinosaurs in a lab and another to create them in the first place. Dr. Malcolm sums it up nicely when he says, “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn’t stop to think if they should.” Greed motivates the park officials who ignore the various risks involved in their business venture and see only dollar signs .

Who is the antagonist ? What are its motives ?

The main villains are Dr. Malcolm and InGen’s Chairman Ludlow. Malcolm is a man with a mission who is driven to bring back dinosaurs in an attempt to prove his scientific genius and reap the benefits of playing god. Ludlow is a greedy billionaire who’s determined to make money off the dinosaurs by selling them in a tourist attraction, no matter how dangerous the creatures might prove.
Ludlow believes that he’s right and won’t stop until the project is complete, even if that means putting the entire team in danger. The first scene is when two raptors attack the visitors on the island. The second is when Kelly has her encounter with a t-rex and realizes that it’s no longer safe to live on Isla Nublar. The third epic scene is the grand finale, when Malcolm and Billy devise a way to save everyone from an impending volcanic eruption by flying an airplane into the volcano’s mouth.
