The Summer I Turned Pretty : A summer romance with a Love Triangle and Friendship .

Kate has always longed for the day when she will turn sixteen – the day that marks her passage from girlhood to womanhood. But her summer of firsts doesn’t go quite as she hoped it would, and soon Kate is caught in a love triangle between two brothers who are too good to be true. Suddenly, Kate discovers that nothing is as simple as it seems in the world of adults. The lines between right and wrong, friend and enemy-even love and hate-are blurred beyond recognition.

What is the plot of the story ?

Kate is a girl who has lived her entire life in a single town. She’s very plain looking and unattractive, yet she’s always loved that trait within herself. She has three best friends: Sandy, Sammi, and Sally and they become extremely close over their summers together. “Kate” (as she’s widely known and called by her friends) enjoys the town life that she lives in with her parents; she especially loves baking pies for people back home throughout the summer months .

The cast include Lola Tung , Gavin Casalegno , and Natalie Portman . Lola Tung portrayed the role of Kate in this film, who is the protagonist of the story. She is a girl who lives in a small town with her parents. She has known Sammi and Sandy since they were very little, and they all bicker back and forth with one another like real sisters would. After a few days of seeing Sandy with her boyfriend, Jake, while Kate was out to pick up some ice cream for them, she decides to confront him on why he was dating her and not Kate. But then she realized that it wasn’t because he didn’t like her enough; it was because he was gay .

Who is the antagonist ? What are its motives ?

The antagonist of the story is Jake .  Who is a homosexual guy and is dating Sandy. He knew that Kate was in love with him yet he didn’t do anything about it . Even when she came out to him thinking that he was going to confess his love for her too. Sandy and Jake go together because they both have no parents and come from a similar background . Kate is the most loved character in the film . She is known for her sweet, shy-like personality , and for the fact that she doesn’t do well when it comes to rejection. She is shown to have a love for baking pies, which she does every summer with her friends at school.

What are the epic scenes ?

The most epic scene in the movie was the one where Kate was at her house  .  And she was trying on all kinds of different clothing that her mom had bought for her from DIY, a store in town . She got to try on a paper bag dress, a fringed skirt, and an old-fashioned dress that would have been a perfect fit for Kate. All of them were “the wrong color” for her skin tone. She then went to pick up an ice cream for Sally and Sammi . No longer caring how she looked after trying these dresses out. After driving back home, she began to realize that her ice cream had melted .  Which meant Sammi and Sally wouldn’t be getting their treat.

I would recommend watching this film to people who enjoy a good coming-of-age tale, with a touch of romance. It’s a very good film for anyone who is looking for a movie to enjoy over the summer . Thanks for reading !
