The Fog, a movie released in 1980, has stood the test of time and still sends shivers up our spines with its spine-chilling plot. Armed with a sinister fog, marauders terrorize the sleepy coastal town of Antonio Bay. Struggling to survive in this unforgiving land of isolation — which is cursed by an ancient Indian curse — the people soon come to realize that they are being massacred by their own worst enemy: themselves!

What is the plot of the story ?

The plot of the movie is a dramatization of a true story that happened in the Philippines. In a sleepy coastal town in the Philippines, an unknown group of people have been slaughtering the people on the island. A local police officer and his remaining men along with a treasure hunter and his daughter are all at their wits end trying to stop this massacre. Meanwhile, all nearby islands have been evacuated to avoid any possible casualties so they can come to no avail as these butcher folk have found there way inland. As things get desperate, tension among the survivors grow as they try desperately to find some kind of peace before it is too late for each other.

Who is in the cast ? What role did each character portray?

The cast include John Carpenter , Jamie Lee Curtis , and Nancy Allen . Each of the characters portrayed a different role and all played their part very well. They have to do so in order to make this movie as realistic as possible such as the police officers who have to take time out of their schedule to help out the people in need.

What are the difficulties they face ?

The characters face many difficulties, but one of the main ones would have to be the fact that they are all on their own because nobody else wants to be there. The town’s population is decimated, so the population of survivors is very small and people who do not need to be there never really want to be there when danger lurks around every corner. The themes also include: Resilience , Characterization , Survival and People’s reactions to each other .

Who is the antagonist ? What are its motives ?

The antagonist of the movie is a person called the Tall Man. The Tall Man is shrouded in mystery, but most of what we know about it is based on what we hear from other people and what we see from the fog. Those who are foolish enough to get hemmed in by the fog are brutally murdered by this evil being that wears a tall red hat.

What are the epic scenes ?

The main scene of the movie is the one where the characters are attacked by a giant fog beast. The beast first appears as a small blue ball of smoke, then changes into an evil-looking monster with tentacles that bursts forth from the fog, knocking over everyone to the ground. The scene lasts for about a minute and a half and it is horrifically presented to us in all its splendor.

Who is the most loved character ?

The most loved character is the 13-year-old girl named Sally . She is almost always seen with her dog, and appears to be very happy. The two were inseparable then the dog sacrifices itself for her. She is also the main character of the movie and appears in almost every scene in it.
There are several epic scenes that were extremely memorable. One of them is when the heroes (men, woman and children) all huddle together in a barn and hold hands in an effort to stay warm as they await rescue.

I would recommend watching this movie because it is an epic movie. I enjoyed watching it and I loved hearing the story behind the making of this awesome movie.
