The DeFeo family was living in the small community of Amityville, New York, when their twenty-year-old son Ronald Jr. shot and killed all six members in the span of one hour. The authorities found no apparent motive for the murders, other than that DeFeo’s friends had seen him drink fourteen beers that evening and he was on probation for an earlier crime.

What is the plot of the story ?

The story begins with the Lutz family who were looking for a house to buy. George and Kathy met George Knapp and his wife, who were also interested in buying a house, at 112 Ocean Avenue. This house was built by George Snelling in 1838 and later passed on to his heirs. The story states that in the year 1927, George’s great-granddaughter, Missy Smith moved into the house with her family.

The cast include Ryan Reynolds , Melissa George , Margot Kidder , Chloe Taylor , James Ransone , Philip Baker Hall , Jake Weber and Eric Ladin . The Lutz family consists of George Lutz (Reynolds), his wife Kathy (Melissa George) and their three children, Daniel (Taylor), Missy (Chloe) and Chris (Ransone). Kathy and Chris were en route to visit their grandparents in the house when they noticed the bizarre happenings around them.

What are the difficulties they face ?

Since their arrival at the house, objects moved around the house and the children claimed to see paranormal activity. One night, Kathy was attacked in her bathroom by an unseen force; she still bears the scars on her face. George and Kathy decided to stay together with their children in a hotel room while they contacted a famous psychic and theologian, Father Ray (Hall), for help. Mr. George is also suspicious about certain aspects of the house such as five-sided room towards the basement and a spiral staircase that leads to nowhere.

As Father Ray examines the different aspects of the house, he feels that someone is trying to drive them out. He decides to contact the authorities but is unable to get through to the police because of how haunted it has become. With only twenty-four hours until their scheduled departure, Father Ray believes they need a supernatural intervention.

What are the epic scenes ?

While in the hotel room, Daniel experiences a paranormal experience and vomits. The next morning he hears a noise that he initially thinks is his father screaming. He rushes to his parents’ room only to find that they are asleep and not injured. Kathy hears the same noise but dismisses it as coming from downstairs. Kathy then starts hearing strange noises in her room and spots an unidentified male figure outside her window staring at her through the glass; this is when she decides to cover herself up with a blanket.

Who is the most loved character ?

While in the hotel room, Kathy hears something that sounds like a scream. Her eyes are then opened by something that resembles a finger making her wish to be dead. She is then asked to go up the spiral staircase and see their next door neighbor Ray Kincaid who is played by Philip Baker Hall . When she finally reaches Ray’s room, she sees a man with legs missing. Ray then explains that he has actually been murdered and his killer had his legs amputated. She then passes out during this traumatic event.
