First Image Of ‘History Of The World Part 2’ Reveals Mel Brooks Sequel

The world has changed a lot in 4 decades and the one thing that hasn’t changed is our affinity with Mel Brooks. This is why it shouldn’t come as a shock that after over 40 years, there’s finally going to be a follow-up to History of the World, Part I. The first images from the film have just been released by Hulu and they’re everything we could hope for (and more). Honestly, we’re counting down the days until this masterpiece gets released this spring. The film will star Brooks, Wanda Sykes, Nick Kroll, and Ike Barinholtz as the voices for a variety of historical figures throughout history. There’s no word yet on whether we can expect to see the likes of Dom DeLuise returning to the series, but we sure hope so. The show is set to be an eight-part series instead of a film like the original film. So even if they don’t get Dom back as Nero, we at least get more episodes with him in it. We can expect the series to feature a variety of sketches that take place throughout history, but there aren’t many other details as of yet.

Who is in the cast of History of Part 2?

  • Gary Nguyen as Bellman
  • David Stassen as Sitcom Director
  • Dove Cameron as Princess Anastasia
  • Pamela Adlon
  • Pamela Adlon

  • Doug Friedman as DNC Guest
  • David Slaman as Cowboy
  • Frank Scozzari as DNC Delegate

About the film  History Of The World Part 1?

The film was directed and written by Mel Brooks and released in 1981. Brooks stars as the 2,000-year-old man, a curious time traveler whose life spans from 30 BC (where he witnesses the execution of Jesus Christ) to AD 2001 (when he looks into a futuristic era). The film is a spoof on history, incorporating historical footage and such literary figures as Socrates and Cleopatra. History of the World Part I serves both as the title of this film and as a continuation of the overall theme in Brooks’ filmography, which includes many jokes mocking history or historical figures. This was Mel Brook’s first collaboration with Dom DeLuise.

What fans are expecting from the 2nd part?

Fans of Mel Brooks have been waiting quite a while for this. History of the World, Part I, was released in 1981. That was over 40 years ago! If anything, fans have had to endure countless quotes and references to it over the years. This will be the first follow-up film Brooks has made since he wrote. But, since 2001 is the year that the film takes place in, it’s more than fitting. We can expect a lot of the same satire and comedy that fans have grown to love from Brooks over the past 40 years. The series will not be a parody of history but rather some sketches throughout history. Since it was released in 1981, it will be interesting to see how much has changed within the past 42 years.

What makes this series interesting?

Dom DeLuise is a brilliant comedian and his role in History of the World, Part II was larger than expected. Fans are expecting this series to focus on DeLuise’s character Nero Caesar and how he makes the transition from Roman Emperor to crazed hunger for power. The idea that not only is history repeating itself but that we’re seeing it as a cartoon as well is very intriguing to have. Since there aren’t many details available at this time, fans can’t be sure whether there will be any jokes being made or not.
