Dave Bautista Is Leaving MCU After The Release Of ‘Guardians Of Galaxy Vol 3’

Dave Bautista has long been vocal about wanting to move on from acting in major blockbuster movies, but it now appears that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be his last with Marvel. The 53-year-old Drax actor revealed the news during an interview with Shortlist when discussing the upcoming film’s storyline and how he has come to identify more as a man than a character. “I’m not going to be playing that role for much longer, because I can’t keep up physically…I just wanted to make sure I go out on a high note.” When asked what would happen after Vol. 3 was released, he replied “I think I’m going to retire too. Earlier in his career, Bautista was a successful MMA fighter before moving into acting. Bautista would go on to portray Drax in May 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and reprised the role in 2016’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as well as Avengers: Infinity War last year. He is set to reprise his role once more in Avengers 4 this May.

WWE wrestler turned actor Dave Bautista is a six-time world champion in WWE, and is best known for his time with the wrestling promotion from 2002 to 2014 under the ring name Batista. He also had a brief appearance in the first season of the MMA reality show The Ultimate Fighter but was eliminated quickly. In addition to his work as Drax, Bautista has played roles like Agent Hoyle in 2013’s Riddick and Drax in 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
