What is the film about?

The Old Way is a film about a man haunted by his troubled past but does not resort to violence even when faced with grave danger. He is forced to relive his past when the son of one of his victims, Baca (Evan Peters) seeks revenge on him for killing his father. In a manner that may be similar to other Western films, the hero must decide whether or not to put down his gun and use the new skills he has acquired to better protect the ones he loves. Although it is easy to imagine the great life of a gunslinger, there comes a time when all men must grow up and reconcile with their painful past. This is something young Baca must face as well.  Nicolas Cage does a remarkable job playing a grizzled gunslinger plagued by his past.

Why should you watch this film?

While many Western films like this have been released in recent years, The Old Way is different in the fact that it is a more serious film than most gunslingers. It does not rely on flashy action scenes to move the story along and instead concentrates on character development and a real-world setting. While most films of this genre use the American West as a setting to complete with action not entirely credible, The Old Way takes place during the late nineteenth century and makes use of authentic locations such as Tucson and Salt Lake City. Some critics claim it emphasizes the romance between an ancient Indian man and a woman who acts as his guide.
