Forrest Gump : Tom Hanks revisits the most iconic Box of chocolates scene.

Forrest Gump is a 1994 life-story drama written and directed by Robert Zemeckis, who directed the successful live-action/animated film, The Polar Express. It tells the story of Forrest Gump, a man with low IQ who recounts his life from childhood to adult hood.

What is the plot of the story ?

Forrest was born on a shrimping boat in Alabama in the 1930s. He had low IQ and was not able to go to school at first. But after meeting Jenny one day, he started attending school regularly, even though he did not understand how to read or write at first. As his mother was very sick at that time, Forrest’s father took him along on one of his fishing trips where he witnessed a plane flying overhead (this plane would later become instrumental in bringing down President Kennedy).

Who is in the cast ? What role did each character portray ?

The cast include Tom Hanks , Robin Wright, Gary Sinise , Mykelti Williamson, Conchata Cruz, Sally Field, Lisa Whelchel and others . Tom Hanks portrayed the role of Forrest Gump, a man with low IQ who could not even read or write at the beginning of the story. Robin Wright is the mother of Forrest, Jenny. What are the difficulties they face ?

All he wants now is to be reunited with his childhood sweetheart, Jenny. For example, they set sail to America when they were only seven years old. They fought in Europe as guerrillas and were prisoners of war. They took part in the invasion of Normandy and went back to the USA a hero. After the war, Forrest got a job as a lifeguard. He then enrolled at Oxford University, but failed his exams because he did not know how to read or write. He even tried to join the army but was rejected because of his low IQ.

Who is the antagonist ? What are its motives ?

William Zuckerman was the antagonist in this story. He is the one that denied Forrest a job as a bus driver because of his low IQ. Mr Zuckerman was also the one who told Forest’s mother to abort him. He is an extremely selfish and cruel person who would do anything to make money, including denying disabled people their rights.

What are the epic scenes ?

“Mr. President, I just want to say that I love you.” He is a ‘lovable’ man even though he has low IQ. This is why the president replied, “I love you too. While Forrest was running from one end of America to another trying to find Jenny, he met a few people along the way. For example, he met his long-lost mother who told him that Jenny was now married to another man. He also saw his son, who had blonde hair and blue eyes. Through a series of events, he even became a multimillionaire.

Who is the most loved character ?

The most loved character in Forrest Gump is Jenny. She was a nice girl who liked Forrest and wanted to marry him. But, of course, she had an accident with her pregnancy and the baby died. Instead, she married Bubba. After Bubba’s death, Jenny met Forrest again and they reunited as lovers before he died.

Would you recommend watching this ?

Yes, I would recommend watching this movie because it is a wonderful portrayal of the life of Forrest Gump. There are moments when you would find yourself laughing, crying, gasping and even chanting “Dixie”. It is also a good movie to show the value of life. Thanks for reading !
