At SDCC 2022, the D&D movie cast discusses honor among thieves and dragons

As a work of fan fiction, the HBO series “Game of Thrones” can be viewed as a form of escapism. But this week at San Diego Comic-Con, writers from the show revealed that author George R.R. Martin’s work is also meant to be a form of escapism for them.

Eagles and demons, dragons and devils — the magic of “A Song of Ice and Fire” is that it can allow Martin to visit these realms without experiencing the mental anguish that might accompany them in real life. And now, as filming nears on Season 8, with another looming apocalypse just months away, it looks like he has company.

Introduction to The Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

It is an adventure module for Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition. It’s a pretty fun read; I recommend it if you’re bored at work or just want something to read. It’s classified as Tales of the Yawning Portal, which is a collection of five modules that takes place in the time between Curse of Strahd and Storm King’s Thunder. It may not be as good as its predecessors, but it was interesting enough to keep me going until I found something else to read later on (or was caught up with other literature).

Background info on companion characters: My group plays Dungeon Master, but we’re also playing a group of sorts that I’m creating for myself. Since I’m the NPC, I don’t get to play their backgrounds at all. So I can only use that information to show how they develop through the story.

If you love Dungeons & Dragons as much as we do, you know that one of the most iconic aspects of the game is how each player character has a unique backstory. Not only do they have their stats, tabletop alignment, and spells, but every character also has an elaborate history that helped shape who they are.

One such instance is Eluria Cosgrove’s interpretation of her D&D character in a popular video game adaptation by Beamdog with Lord almighty knows what else. Eluria Cosgrove was the former lead designer on Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn where she worked closely with BioWare founder Dr. Ray Muzyka on its development.
