What is the series about?
The Recruit is an American political crime thriller that revolves around an ambitious young guy named Owen Hendricks who gets recruited by the CIA to prevent the next world war. Owen seems to be an ideal recruit as he’s quite smart, well-educated, and both physically and mentally strong. However, things aren’t as they seem when Owen realizes that his superiors are not really who they say they are. In the meantime, he meets an asset that convinces him that she was used by the CIA and was coerced into espionage. After this ordeal, Owen’s world is turned upside down as he is forced to decide what is right and wrong.
What makes this series interesting?
Besides the fact that The Recruit is a political crime thriller, the series is full of twists and turns that keep viewers guessing what will happen next. Also, the series features a good script and the overall plot is relatively fresh and unique. Set in Los Angeles, The Recruit revolves around Owen Hendricks who has just started working for the CIA as an analyst. He has little knowledge about how politics go on in their agency but that doesn’t stop him from working hard every day to achieve his goal; to prevent world war in the upcoming years. Unfortunately for him, he becomes entangled in all sorts of dangerous situations as he tries to do his job.
Who can watch this series?
Though the series is rated TV-MA, the show is still appropriate for a younger audience. The Recruit revolves around politics and espionage, which viewers might find interesting but it’s not considered a family-friendly show. For example, in one of its episodes, Owen Hendricks is led on a tour of his CIA division in which he comes across a torture room and various methods of murder used by his superiors. The series does have quite a few surprises for Netflix fans as well as for people who are interested in politics and action movies.
